Ms. Ortega's latest is the follow-up to my favorite album of 2011, "Little Red Boots." Ortega blends country and rockabilly with a splash of blues. Think of a young Dolly Parton singing Johnny Cash tunes with indelible flourishes of Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline. Ortega sizzles on robust rocker "The Day You Die," invokes a world-weariness regarding love on standout "Lead Me On," haunts the soul with "High" and convincingly pleads for her lover to ditch the alcohol and cigarettes on "Use Me." The title track is filled with longing for a distant lover, and "Demons Don't Get Me Down" is a honky-tonk jukebox gem. She may be no Elvis Presley, but she's the best shot in the arm to hit the country scene since Dwight Yoakam more than a quarter-century ago. My favorite album of 2012 so far.

This is by far the best release by any artist I have heard in a long time. She has captured her own soul of country, roots and new, soul and rock ... blending it so it just says 'this is all of me'. She is beautiful indeed. thank you Lindi!
I would recommend Elizabeth Cook to any fan of Lindi's that hasn't yet heard of her. Yes, there are original, dynamic women in country!

She's sexy. She has that voice that lures you in. And before you know it, you find yourself pressing the "play again" button. In my case that's been many times over since purchasing Lindi's "Cigarettes & Truckstops." I know artists don't like to be compared to others before them, but I don't believe I'm stretching it to put her in the same company as Patsy Cline. And Lindi's latest album is closer to a fine female country twang than much of the country/pop saturating the airwaves right now. And although many of the songs on this album hint at being or getting "high", Lindi's voice, lyrics, and guitar are my drug of choice. And you can buy it legally without living in California. Nice.

Amazon listed Lindi in my recommended listening and I'm glad they did. She is a mixture of Linda Ronstandt, Sheryl Crow, Patsy Cline and the heart and guts of Johnny Cash. She has style! Lindi lyrics cut right to the soul and expresses not only the joy she finds in life but the pain. Her self reflection is something I can identify with. Her musical sytle is classic country/rockabilly. She's fun to listen to and has a way with her slower more mystical songs to take you places you haven't gone in a while. Her vocals are very unique and I love her. Check out some of her mp3 samples or check her out on youtube and see how you feel.

Lindi Ortega represents what country music should, at its heart, be about--ballads and bar songs about heartache, drinking, and occasionally murdering a no-good-so-and-so and burying 'em out back by the cornfield. With the voice of an angel and a sense of melody that will keep you humming the tunes to yourself all day long, Lindi's latest record will appeal to fans of older country (think Cash, Jennings, and THEIR forebears ) as well as those into newer shades of Americana. The production is 'retro' without being kitschy and presents the artist and her songs in a full but not overly-slick light. In short, we need more like this one.

Evocative songwriting, diverse musical composition, and an absolutely unique and enchanting lyrical delivery. The first listen is quite an experience...the tenth listen...transcendent.

Lindy is A throwback to the classic honky tonk style of yesteryear. A breath of fresh air in this world of Taylor Swift pop country. A good voice and killer looks don't hurt either. Good for Honky Tonk and Rockabilly enthusiasts.
