Cilio Stainless Decanter Drying Rack

I was in a bind. I had a beautiful new wine decanter, but no way to dry it. The decanter would not balance upside down on it's own....so I found this.

I'm happy with it (hence the 4 stars) except for one minor flaw....the base circle is far too small. After placing the decanter on this 'rack' i find i have to carefully adjust the interface so as not to have an out-of-balance assembly.

In other words...it's kind of scary how small the base on this is. I live in earthquake-prone California...and a decanter sitting on this wouldn't survive a 4.0

However, given the other options (and the price)...you can't go wrong. After all, it works!

I'm perplexed by the other reviews, or possibly I just have a bad one but I find the tip on the end of this is very slippery and does not function to hold the decanter securely well at all. I had been using it until the other day when you guessed it, the decanter slipped and cracked up it's side as it went. I cannot recommend.

The quality of this gadget is quite good, nice plating on the metal. I tried it with a few decanters and they all sit securely on it, helped by the rubber stopper that keeps the decanter from slipping off. I doubt many people need this, but if you use and clean your decanter a lot, this drying rack is an economical and very effective device.

Unless your counter space is limited, I humbly suggest that you consider buying a stemware rack instead of a single-purpose decanter rack.

I was looking for a decanter drying rack when I stumbled upon the Oenophilia Fusion 8 Glass Stemware Rack, which can be used to dry both stemware AND decanters. I've used the Oenophilia for both, and have been pleased with the product (reviewed elsewhere on Amazon). The rack handles both ship's captain and duck style decanters while simultaneously accommodating 8 - 16 wine glasses.

I don't question the decanter rack's suitability for drying decanters -- it's just I usually find that I'm drying stemware as frequently as, if not more than, decanters.

After I purchased my "Luigi Bormioli Esperienze 88-Ounce Decanter", I realized it was a pain to clean and dry. There was no way I was taking a chance on putting it in the dishwasher so I ended up drying it out with paper towels (BIG mistake - lint) and then dry cloths with a fork. It took too much time. This Cilio drying rack is perfect. Not only does it look good on the shelf or through a glass door cabinet, it dries out the decanter with no water lines or spots. It's made out of stiff and sturdy stainless steel and the tip is made of rubber so you can't scratch your decanter. It's so inexpensive and it looks great. Any person that appreciates a fine wine and has a nice decanter (like the Luigi Bormioli) will love this. It will work with any decanter not over 13".

Getting those decanters to dry without spots can be problematic. This is a big help. The wide base allows better balance than you would think, and is really very secure. I would prefer a larger balance point, but this does the job.

No more worries about upended wine bottles tipping over and breaking on the counter! This rack is sturdy enough, attractive, and just as advertised. We love it.

I got this because I was sick of balancing my Riedel decanter on it's top to dry it. The top of the decanter is not very broad so a calm breeze would have no problem blowing it over and smashing it into a million pieces. I figured this was $15 and a new decanter would be >$30, simple economic decision there. This gives it some more stability and it pretty much just works. No complaints.

This rack is one of "nice to have" things if you are into wine accessory. It is nice size and useful.

This stand works well. The single upright pole allows an angle on the decanter so the water drains from all surfaces. The large base gives stability.
I would recommend using the stainless steel cleaning beads as well.
