Cinco de Mayo is less an explanation of the historical significance of the date than a presentation of how a present-day Mexican family observes the holiday. A brief retelling of the famous battle is appended. Both titles demonstrate the importance of relatives and friends in the celebrations. The full-color illustrations add to the warmth of the easy-to-read texts and to the richness of the ethnic heritages represented.
