Humor and Heart,

This review is from: Cinder Rabbit (Hardcover)
Poor Zoe! Destined for stardom, the lead in her school play, she's forgotten how to hop. And with the Bunny Hop finale of that performance on her mind, she sets out to re-learn how.
New readers will chuckle at every page turn in this well-paced early reader from Lynn Hazen, with delightful illustrations by Elyse Pastel. Hazen uses clever puns (Grand Rabbits School!) and new twists on old tales to weave her emotionally engaging characters into a tale coordination and confidence which will hit squarely on target with its intended age group. Hop out and buy it!

Delightful!,
This review is from: Cinder Rabbit (Hardcover)
CINDER RABBIT is a delightful take on the Cinderella theme. Hazen's sweet chapter book is perfect for my youngest granddaughter who can read, but resists. She and other young chapter book readers from kindergarten through second grde won't be able to resist discovering what happens next for Bunny Zoe. The appealing bunny is terrified of a class bully and after an unfortunate encounter with a mudhole, she's unable to hop. Disaster looms when Zoe's starring role in the school play includes leading her entire class in the bunny hop. Wonderfully expressive bunnies enliven each page as Zoe's struggles to save herself and the school play carry her all the way to bunny-hopping triumph.

This chapter book by Lynn Hazen, illustrated by Elyse Pastel, is a charmer! It is packed with humor, emotion and encouragement. It is the perfect early reader for anyone having to deal with a class bully, or afraid of doing something. The star of this story, Zoe, is an adorable little bunny with bouncy ears, the starring role in the school play, and a fear of hopping since she got stuck in a mud puddle.
During the play, Zoe freezes. But all ends well as her buddies (bunnies?) Woody and Charlie quickly come up a plan to help her get over her fear. The illustrations by Elyse are funny, dynamic and exprressive. A great team!

This early chapter book follows the tale of Zoe finding her way as the lead character in a play of cinderella (cinder rabbit) amongst a class of friends and bullies. Every kid can relate.
Fun to read. You want to know "what happens next?" with every page turn. Sweet illustrations from Pastel and playful humor from Hazen's words. Recommended for all early readers! |
