I was fortunate enough to be able to preview this album last week. As an owner two other Cinderella recordings, I assumed that the listen would be my chance to quench any curiosity about the new cast and immediately go back to listening to Julie Andrews. Wrong. I listened to it three times in a row and have been counting down the days until its release since.

I am late to the Laura Osnes fan club, but her voice is flawless here. Even her spoken parts (which I sometimes find hokey on soundtracks) are delightful. And am I allowed to call Santino Fontana (our favorite talent from 'Submissions Only') charming as the prince? Because he is. Victoria Clark is as brilliant as always as the Fairy Godmother.

Seriously, this album is a theatre lover's dream. The best songs are the classics "In My Own Little Corner", "Impossible"/"It's Possible", "Ten Minutes Ago", and "Do I Love You Because You're Beautiful", as well as the borrowed "Loneliness of Evening" from South Pacific. (Although truthfully, the short duet in "The Proposal" might be my favorite.)

Even if you love another recording of Cinderella, this is worth adding to your collection. There are enough new songs and refrains (not to mention a completely new book!) to satisfy. This album, from start to finish, is pure happiness.

After catching the cast perform a medley of songs on "Late Night with David Letterman," I was spellbound and kept playing the clip back on my DVR. I couldn't wait for the CD to be released so I purchased the download and copied it to a CD which I have been playing in my car. I can't get "Ten Minutes" out of my head. It has to be one of Rodgers and Hammerstein's most-beautiful ballads with its catchy waltz-timed melody. I'm old enough to be familiar with (and have all the CD or DVD recordings) of the various TV incarnations of the show and this one tops my list. The opening choral number from this Broadway version is also one of my favorites. Can't wait to see this show in New York!

PS - A Note I thought I'd Share with Fans of "Cinderella": If the 1957 Julie Andrews version of the show had been produced and broadcast just a year to eighteen months later than its original airdate, there probably would be a color videotaped record of it instead of bad black-and-white kinescope that exists as the only video record of the show. Oh, well....

I have never seen the broadway play, but I love the music and bought this on a whim. This is by far the BEST voice cast I've heard singing Cinderella. The prince and Cinderella's voices are both impeccable. I am so glad I bought this! Have been listening to it non-stop for a week.

That sounds like heresy, I know. My three-year old granddaughter recently discovered Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella from watching the Brandy-Whitney Houston version. This set the family off into finding other versions, including the DVD of the original Julie Andrews television special--which, unfortunately only exists as a black and white kinescope that they have remastered digitally. Well, they have turned Cinderella into a top notch Broadway show. There is energy in this recording that does not exist in any of the other versions--whether Brandy, Leslie Ann Warren, or Julie Andrews. I was prepared to love Julie the best--but I love this more. I hope the touring company comes to my city, because I really want to see this.
