4.0 out of 5 stars Bringing the Movie to Mind
Like the CD for "Snow White," this splendidly arranged remaster includes not only the few (yet classic) vocals ("A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes," "Sing, Sweet Nightingale," "The Work Song," "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo," "So This is Love") and a song that never made it to film ("I'm in the Middle of a...

I think this cd is great. It is the same as the movie because I play it during the movie and it the movie songs that are used in the movie.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bringing the Movie to Mind, October 7, 2002
This review is from: Cinderella - An Original Walt Disney Records Sountrack (Audio CD)
Like the CD for "Snow White," this splendidly arranged remaster includes not only the few (yet classic) vocals ("A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes," "Sing, Sweet Nightingale," "The Work Song," "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo," "So This is Love") and a song that never made it to film ("I'm in the Middle of a Muddle"), but all the ambient background instrumental music that wasn't released on the original vinyl, carefully arranged according to its original playing order. Scenes flow through your mind as you listen, and you resolve to replay your video at first opportunity. Track 10, "Locked in the Tower...," includes wonderful mouselike skittering music that evokes perfectly the image of Cinderella's rodent friends scurrying through the walls. Like so much classic Disney soundtrack music, these pieces are so perfectly matched to the action that you understand why the studio gained the place it did in popular culture and the critical mind: Disney and his people never thought of themselves as making "just kiddie movies," but as craftsmen and perfectionists.

4.0 out of 5 stars My 3 Year-Old Loves This CD, October 10, 2001

My daughter wants this CD played daily! She enjoys singing along with the few vocal songs.
Many of the pieces are instrumental used in the background of the movie. The songs with vocals are straight from the film as well. "Cinderella" doesn't stand on its own apart from the movie the way "Beauty and the Beast" does. However, it is a worthwhile addition to ones Disney collection.

I feel they should have cut each song so you can skip to the song you wanted to hear! Not make it into one big track. Disney you fix this with a Special Edition Soundtrack when the Platinum Edition Soundtrack! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Cinderella is simply breathtaking, February 22, 2001

No Disney fan should be without this soundtrack. Included are all the classic original songs including "So This Is Love" and, "The Work Song" along with an unsued song titled, "I'm In The Middle of A Muddle". It would've been nice for the producers to have included some back story to the unused song for refrence, but you'll learn nothing of its history here. For that, chek out the deluxe laserdisc version of Cinderella. The booklet is put together beautifully and includes the lyrics to all the songs, even "I'm In The Middle of A Muddle". Great care was taken in presenting the music as it appears in the film, so that many tracks blend right into the next just like in the film. It's incredible that this was written in 1949 - it sounds so fresh.

If you love the film or like Disney you can't go wrong with this terrific soundtrack.

4.0 out of 5 stars A DREAM WORTH WAITING FOR, October 18, 2005

A dream is what your heart makes. And for years we've been dreaming and wishing that Cinderella would make a comeback. And thanks to the magic of Disney, our wish has been granted. (Please do not mix up this Cinderella with the punk-rock band of the same name. This is music; that is a mess.) We are happy to see (and hear) that extra tracks, including two demo recordings. And though we understand Disney's marketing techniques, we do wish that the added performances by Jim Brickman and Kimberely Locke would go away. Maybe if we close our eyes real tight and chant those three magic words. All together now: bibbidi-bobbidi-boo ...

4.0 out of 5 stars Dream Is A Wish The Heart Makes, September 11, 2007
This review is from: Cinderella - An Original Walt Disney Records Sountrack (Audio CD)
Like the grateful emporer once said about Mulan, "You don't find a girl like that every dynasty." Same could be said for Disney's ever classic Cinderella, and the soundtrack should live up to the romantic magical tale. For those unfamiliar with the latest Disney soundtracks, they are composed of many background score tracks, along with the many recognizable songs known to millions around the world. If you wish to hear dialogue to string the songs together, then by all means, purchase the dvd movie.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very few songs; lots of background music, April 6, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Cinderella - An Original Walt Disney Records Sountrack (Audio CD)
When I ordered this, I was expecting a soundtrack that had lots of dialogue to piece the handful of wonderful songs together. It actually has not one word of dialogue; the lion's share of it is background music. Both my child and I are extremely disappointed. For us it does not even bear a second listening. I would not recommend this for anyone who wants the songs, because you completely lose interest during the enormous instrumental gaps between them.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a masterpiece, February 19, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Cinderella - An Original Walt Disney Records Sountrack (Audio CD)
when you are a child, you need communication. Words are a key ingredient to a childs growth. This record doesn't portrait the real heartfelt disney i know, and grew up with. I would not recomend this compact disc to any other people. Overall, I would say this record needs work, it doesnt show the real disney that the movie shows. Don't let me influence you, buy it, and find out for yourself.
