Book Description

Catherine Logan is devastated by the loss of her family's farm in California. She takes a job in South America to help other farmers and to satisfy her heart's longing for the land. But Catherine finds a willing spirit and a degree in agriculture aren't enough. She needs a truck to get the produce to town which means asking for a loan from the one man she doesn't want to see - banker Josh Bentley. Josh might seem all business, but he too has a dream. He's come to South America to find a secret treasure hidden from the world for ages. Meeting a woman like Catherine was not in his plans. A modern-day Cinderella she was disguised as a local woman living in a remote village. He soon knew she was the promise of love and the home he'd never had. If only he could convince her to trust him...

"At midnight I turn into a farmer again," she warned him.

"Like Cinderella," he said.

His face was very close to hers and she realized if she lifted her face to his and he kissed her, no one would know or care. She closed her eyes and felt her spine tingle in anticipation.

"Don't run away," he said. "You might lose a glass slipper."

She knew she'd better run. And fast. She had a lot more to lose than that.

3.0 out of 5 stars slow going and kind of a downer August 30, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Number one problem....this story needed someone to proof read it...tons of mistakes in word usage..."he" instead of "be", sentances that just make no sense....ruins the read because it's so annoying, there are so many goofs.

4.0 out of 5 stars 3.5 stars for this romance story.... January 22, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have enjoyed many of the books from Carol Grace, this one was nice, but it was full of editing issues. The story line was cute, and the book was fairly clean PG-13 romance. The story is about Catherine, who has been a farmer all her life. Her life changes when her family loses their farm and the bank refuses to lend them additional money. From that day, her disdain for bankers begins. A year later, she finds herself in South America, working for the Peace Corp and helping the locals there with her Agricultural skills. She has blended and bonded with the locals and she becomes a part of them.

One day at the market, she meets a very handsome man. The attraction between them is electric but she is not interested in a relationship because she has her life planned out and romance was no where in the picture. Josh was immediately attracted to the beautiful girl at the market. He wanted to know her but didn't know what to say or do. When Catherine finds out the man at the market is the new bank boss, she goes to see him to ask for a loan for the locals. Josh was so excited to see the beautiful girl when she showed up at the bank, unfortunately he had to deny her request because of current bank policies. The story continues and she tries to change his mind and they both spend lots of time together. All the time together only makes them closer and increases the attraction between them. They both discover things about themselves and fall in love. Will Catherine make room for Josh in her 5 year plan? Will Josh settle down with a girl that only wants to work in farming?

Fairly predictable story, pretty cute, loved the setting and characters were likeable. It would have been a 4 stars had it not been for the editing issues.

3.0 out of 5 stars It was nicely ok. 3.5 stars January 17, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This wasn't the story I expected. It was a nice book about a woman who's family lost the farm and she took it personally. I was a little miffed that she thought they should be able to keep it even though they couldn't keep up on the payments. Anyway, she serves with under developed countries helping them farm. It was a bit of a love story, but more of a story that followed her "awaking" into the world of selflessness.

This book would be better if edited again. It was an ok book, not super great, could have been worse.

I enjoyed reading this, but I won't be reading it again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun,easy read January 19, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a fun little story that is an easy to read feel good romance. Relatively clean, and pleasantly predictable. The reason it only got four stars is because there are so many type errors,I had to wonder if anyone proofread the story at all. Despite all this, I still would recommend this book for a rainy day.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cinderella in Overalls April 12, 2015
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A typical romance similar to the ones published by harlequin ( a plot with not much complexity and at some points a bit unrealistic ); it has likeable characters and a happy ending. Some kisses but no sex, so a fairly clean romance for those who prefer it that way.
It does have some editing issues (including mistakes in the words in Spanish), but nothing too distracting.
Had it been a BIT shorter I would probably have enjoyed it more; but overall a nice and uncomplicated reading for a rainy afternoon.

3.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining easy read March 21, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I liked the story and that it took place in another country - made for a nice change from the usual romance book. Both characters were a little too stubborn and blind to their feelings and the heroine was wallowing in self-pity for a little too long which is why I gave it only 3 stars. Otherwise it was enjoyable. I got the book for free so I can't complain and I would recommend it to anyone who likes romance stories.
Where are the proof-readers?

4.0 out of 5 stars Great story, but...
I really loved this story. The only problem I had with it was that it needs an editor. It was quite obvious that the author is relying on spellcheck and that just isn't enough.
