Editorial Reviews

Cindy Crawford returns to the exercise game with her 2000 release A New Dimension. She planned the video as a guide to getting back in shape after giving birth. Viewers with that same plan should find the lesson helpful. Trainer Kathy Kaehler, also a new mom, assists with the workout. There are three different segments featuring various levels of difficulty. The first incorporates stretching and some movements like lunges and squats. The second part is a slightly longer aerobic set with simple steps. Workout B ends with more toning and balance exercises. The last segment is mainly a stamina test for both cardio and muscle endurance. Though the steps are more complicated, they are never very difficult. Overall, A New Dimension can be used in parts or run together for an entire hour of exercise.

Customer Reviews

If you want a safe, effective and enjoyable workout, this video is for you!
Jewel
You can do the A workout if you're just getting back into shape and work up to the next ones, or you can do all three for a really good, tough workout like I do.
Cathy Brunnemer
On the other hand, the toning segments in this section really worked the muscles, particularly in the upper body.

Just what I needed to get me working out again! This tape is geared towards an intermediate exerciser. It's divided into three separate workouts, that can be combined if you want. The first workout (workout A; 10 min.) is designed for getting you started. It contains stretching, kegels, pelvic tilts, light abs, and light toning without weights. Workout B is 15 min., and is the next step. It contains stretching, light cardio, toning with light weights, squats, push-ups, lunges, abs, pelvic tilts, and kegels. Combining workouts A and B makes a great 25 min. workout. Workout C is 40 min., and is a complete full-body workout with cardio and weights. It contains stretching, weights and cardio intervals, squats, lunges, push-ups, leg toning, abs, and kegels. It stands well on it's own as a great workout. You could also combine it with workouts A and B, for an hour of stretching, cardio, and weights. The video is beautifully photographed. The music is excellent, with modern, real music; like they play on the radio. Not that terrible workout elevator music. There's also some footage of Cindy pregnant and with her new baby. I love this tape, and I think you will too!

I just got this tape and it is great. I have been working out for a couple of months and am in pretty good shape, and really wanted it for the third workout (the tape consists of 3 workouts A, B and C).
I love Cindy's first tape, and I really liked the fact that it wasn't a lot of aerobics, but mostly toning, the kind that makes you sweat, and it included a warm up and cool down. If you like her first tape you'll like this one; they are very similar in video editing and format, with a few similar moves. I didn't do work out A (10 mins for anytime, anywhere) or B (16 mins), both of which are shorter and easier than C.
C is a 40 minute workout that includes a warm up, then toning arms with weights in bicep curls, arm raises, tricep extensions, and many more to work all of your arm muscles (maybe 10 in all). Then you move on to working the legs by doing some squats, plies, kicks, butt exercises, and some non-impact aerobic moves while you hold your weights. There are many moves, all easy to do, and a good variety to keep you moving. Finally you work the stomach with about 5 different kinds of crunches. The video has mellow music (in the pop/rock genre)- not too fast and not dance music. There are a lot of different angles and shots during the workout (Cindy on the beach, in the studio, etc.) very aesthetically pleasing...
I definitely enjoyed the workout. Good for anyone just getting into a workout routine with the intro workout A, good for post-pregnancy, and good for those who have been working out to all kinds of tapes if you want something new and different.

This is probably not for experienced exercise freaks but there are plenty of videos out there for them. I'm 38, out-of-shape, the mother of 8 and my body was starting to show it. I bought this tape on a whim and am I glad. I'm not a supermodel fan but Cindy comes across as just an ordinary new mom who wants to get back in shape. I don't know what she looked like before her baby, but she is a beautiful woman with breasts and curves - I'm tired of the stick-look (ala Allie McBeal.)
I've seen a big difference in my fitness level and strength - I alternate Workouts A & B (adding 20 min. exercise bike) with Workout C. I still can't do the push-ups but I'm starting to keep up with the rest of the video. I love the low-key approach, up-to-date outfits & music, and very professional production with interesting multiple camera shots. I also am really enjoying using weights - I worked my way up from one pound to three pound.
Any suggestions from anyone on what would be a good video to buy that has a similiar laid-back, calm, but challenging approach? I'd like to alternate with a more demanding routine as I really start to get in shape. I've given away all the bouncy, 80's, bubble-gum, complicated-dance-step videos that I never really used.

I already reviewed this earlier when I first starting using it, but now it has been about 3 weeks and just wanted to say I am definitely seeing results. I am not a new mom, youngest is 21/2 but I have found this workout works regardless. I usually run on my treadmill about every other day but have really never done any strengthing exercises with weights, situps, pushups, etc. I have been doing Workout C consistently 4 times a week and I feel so much stronger. I can do all the pushups now, whereas when I first started I could only do 2. The situps still kill me, so am still working on them! There's not a lot of cardio work but for toning and strengthening its great. I am thoroughly enjoying this workout!

This tape, which contains three workouts, is for beginners or those who want to ease their way back into exercising. It's also a good backup for days when you too tired to do your regular workout. Although Cindy Crawford recently gave birth, the exercises are suitable for everyone. The third workout program, which is 41 minutes long snd the only one of the three I use, is soothing and beautiful to watch. The music is just right, in my opinion, and Cindy's trainer does a good job demonstrating the right and wrong way of doing the movements. To its credit, this video lacks the jerky movements and MTV-like atmosphere typical of Cindy's previous exercise videos. You probably won't work up a sweat with the cardi sections, and the upper-body workout with weights is too short. But the push ups and abdominal sections are challenging. If you want fast results, you'll probably outgrow this tape fairly quickly. Or you'll need to supplement your program with more vigorous workouts. I alternate this program with some Crunch and Firm. The first two workouts are short--10 minutes and 16 minutes. Inbetween are too many shots of Cindy and her family, which you'll have to fast forward through to get to the workout sections.
