It doesn't have an equalizer. It doesn't have fancy visual effects. It doesn't link to your Facebook account...

HOWEVER

It does play avi movies cleanly and without error. It does calculate the length of the movie and tells you the approximate time the movie will end. It does have decent sized on-screen buttons for controlling the movie.

One thing that really stands out are the Audio FX controls. CineXPlayer provides controls for treble, bass, 3D effect for headphones, and a bass boost for headphones. Since I'm using this player on a Kindle Fire, the audio FX features are very, VERY useful.

There's a Help button but it only displays a link to the developer EULA.

One bug involves the media playlist. I was able to add several videos to the playlist...but after removing those videos...I lost the ability to add new ones to the playlist. There appears to be no menu option or ability to bring up a playlist that is empty! I'm still trying to figure this out. (if it's operator error, I'll edit this review)

To be continued...

I am glad that I checked the app store again for an app that could play movies on my fire. I had previously downloaded two other avid style apps...with no success. This app played the movies I couldn't watch before..And without the every second hestitation or bump the others had. There was one movie that did play, but no sound, and a message popped up that the issue would be corrected with a update, I await the update. GREAT APP.

Does not work on Kindle Fire HD 8.9. App crashes as soon as it loads. Appears to open on my Kindle Fire HE 7 inch model. I need to work on both since we watch different movies simultaneously. Please fix this app for Kindle Fire HD 8.9.

I have played around with this app for a couple of days now and have discovered a few things that might be helpful to others. It played all the XVID AVI's that I played, except those with AC3 audio. The video played but no audio. But, the author has already stated that it doesn't play AC3. It will also play DIVX 4, 5 & 6, but not 3 video. So, if you have audio but no video, that could be the reason. So, before complaining check your video first to make sure it is the proper format for this player.

I have used the iPad version of this software for a year or two, and was happy with that. Every month or two there would be a new version, and each version would add useful new features. Nothing revolutionary, but useful nonetheless. So I was confident that the Kindle Fire HD version would be better than the default program that comes with the device, and would be worth the modest price, even though the only review at the time of purchase gave it only one star. I've not been disappointed. I'm not saying its perfect, but it does the job it says it does and it does it fine. I've had no problems with it at all.

My one major suggestion for improvement is to change the 'menu' where you choose the file to play. The thumbnails are too big for a 7" device, and so you only see 2 or 4 files per screen and there is a lot of scrolling if you have a lot of movies on the device.

But as I said, it does what it claims to do, and does it fine. I'm sure there will be useful updates in due course. Well worth the money.

To start, the app description was contradictory and unless you read extremely carefully, misleading about the supported file formats. The first lines of the product features description read:

- Custom Made just for the Kindle Fire to assure it's performance and simplicity
- MKV, Xvid, MP4, 3GP, WEBM, MP3, etc

To which one would assume means the app can play mkv's. Good enough for me! Purchase. Oh...wait... MKV's are not supported? ...damn...

So that's my mkv's out. Additionally, since I side-loaded a Google Play app (Comicrack) onto my KF, CineXPlayer seems to think that I rooted my device. Thus, whenever I attempt to watch a non-mkv movie, CineX gives me an error stating that the app wasn't licensed to work on rooted devices. Useless.

Cinexplayer works for my movies and has some nice features I find useful. I bought my Kindle Fire books and comics and now find I'm watching movies too :)

I have been having the same problems as a few others...I have a Kindle Fire HD and when I open this app it cycles for about 20 seconds then crashes. Several restarts and reloads later I am still unable to get it working.

ive tried everything to try and find a simple way to watch avi movies on my kindle fire. i found a file converter app,and it did work most of the time, but it took 2 hours to download and convert a 66 mb file, which is extremely frustrating and im way too impatient for that! i found this app and read the reviews about how it plays avi files,so i gave it a shot, and it does exactly that. while some of the movies are blocky and not crystal clear, they are watchable. this is a great app for watching avi files
