This review is from: CINEMA OF ORSON WELLES (Paperback)
Peter Cowie has written one of the most admirable and egregious compendiums ever made around the figure and transcendence of the savage maudit of the cinema: Orson Welles.Indeed, Cowie not only gives us a marvelous biographic sketch, he walks buy unexplored lands, describing zealously every movie directed by Welles, as well as the different insights and invaluable references of the most important personalities of those ages. From Citizen Kane, Cowit leads us through The Stranger, The Lady of Shangai, The stranger, Othelo, Macbeth, Mister Arkadin, Touch of evil, The trial or Chimes of midnight presenting us a brief synopsis, but a well detailed descriptions of unseen details, monumental reflections about the aesthetic, semiotic and relevance of every frame. His labor is a true dissection around the epic and tragic trajectory of this outrageous genius. But there is still more, a fascinating technical counter around the movies he was as actor as well his incursions in theater and finally his unfinished projects that never were materialized in the screen. Thanks to the infinite kindness of an authentic literary archeologist - Mario Flores - who gave me this present, I read it tonight until 3 am. When I finished, and believe me the effort was totally gratifying. So, in order the enormous importance this book has for countless people and different professions, I just don't doubt to search it no matter this epic effort means for you. So please, make yourself a favor and go for this treasured text, as fast as you can. |
