Following the huge box-office success of "The Robe", other Hollywood studios soon scrambled to jump on to the 20th Century-Fox bandwagon. This massive, 367-page, large format book describes productions such as Columbia's "The Eddy Duchin Story", "Fire Down Below" and "Interpol"; Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's "Far From the Madding Crowd", "Follow the Boys" and "2001: A Space Odyssey"; Warner Brothers' "Gold of the Seven Saints" and "A Star Is Born"; United Artists' "Khartoum" and "Trapeze"; Hammer's "She"; Universal-International's "Four Girls in Town" and "The Restless Years"; and a host of 20th Century-Fox successes from "Boy on a Dolphin", "Bus Stop" and "Cleopatra" through "Let's Make Love" and "The Longest Day" to "The Seven Year Itch", "Three Coins in the Fountain", "Untamed", "Valley of the Dolls" and "Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?" A book of this size required an enormous amount of research. In the days before IMDB, you had to depend on studio press hand-outs and personal observation for cast and technical credits, and trade newspapers for release and background information (including awards and box-office results). Although gleaned the hard way, this information has often proved more complete than that available on the net. And of course it's also a treat to have it all in a book you can hold in your hands (even if it is somewhat heavy).
