You will love this, and probably have no idea that Grusin did so many of your favorite movie themes. Trust me on this one. You'll be glad you did.

This is a special CD filled with TV, movie, and hit-parade songs by Dave Grusin. Whenever I choose to send a memorable gift to a special person, this CD is purchased. Listening Pleasure are words that best describes this musical masterpiece.

When pregnant with my second child, I listened this CD when I needed to relax. There was only one song that was too upbeat, and I just programmed the CD player to skip that one song if I was trying to rest. It helped me make it through my labor. After my daughter was born, it was also her favorite at nap time. Also very good as background music for dinner parties.

I'm a college student, and while I love my rock and roll, there's a time for "the studies"... and this cd presents a perfect soundtrack. There's also not a song on here that doesn't stir up some sort of emotion. Relationships past, present, what you hope to have are all conjured up in the slow songs. In the faster ones, the instrumentation is just as good. Pick this one up... you should be able to get it for cheap!

i have owned this album for about twenty or more, years but have not listened to it in a long time,as i only have it on vinyl, and as over the years you you generally tend to change over to cd format for conveniance i.e. car stereo, children. and the cost, well you know what i mean. i do a lot of searching when i go to music stores and there are just so many albums that i own on vinl that i would like to own on cd. and being realistic there are a few i own on vinyl the world could do without on cd, anyhoo when i was searchin around the site for someone else, i was delighted to find this. have not recieved it yet but if it is half as brilliant as i remembered i'll be in heaven. truly some beautiful, uplifting, exhilarating, and always enjoyable.

This CD was my introduction to Dave Grusen. Talented performer, and composer. He sets a variety of moods: A sunrise glow on Golden Pond, a meeting of hearts the tender piano treatment of "It Might Be You," a high-energy "Fratelli Chase," and the spendor of "Mountain Dance." Every piece is melodic with a mix of orchestral, rhythms, and acoustic blends that keeps you coming back. Enjoy.

" I am woosailor and I am a Grusin junky" and also a big fan of the Fender Rhodes piano as well as the other electronic instruments Grusin mixes with conventional instruments of the orchestra
.
Was first exposed to Grusin's work while living near Balboa Park in downtown San Diego, next to a religious broadcasting studio !....Maybe it was just a magical time in my life living in a gorgeous city listening to this cine-magician.

Someone in the building bought Mountain Dance, I liked it, and then proceeded to play it until the grooves were nearly gone. Have played this CD thousands of times. ( Headphones make the experience so much better)
Agree with Rebecca who said that this is relaxing music and all of her comments.....

My favorite is The Champ which is haunting but there is only one cut on this CD that I routinely skip and I think that it is the same one Rebecca mentions.....comes from On Golden Pond. 13 out of 14 is still a winner in my book.

On Golden Pond..... it "nails" the sense of the movie
Heaven Can Wait.....humorously light and fun
An Actor's Life.....from Tootsie....great use of instrumentation
It Might Be You.....another from Tootsie...eerily beautiful....with great lyrics
The Heart is a Lonely Hunter.....this movie didn't get the exposure that it deserves but Grusin sets the tone
Mountain Dance....listen to this with decent headphones and catch the effects that Grusin injects into this song
Letting Go........from The Champ.....simple, beautiful, and beautiful....again potentiates the movie..
The Champ......from The Champ...Grusin uses an English horn and French horns to set a tone here....my favorite
Condor.......from Day of the Condor.....

I remember the day when I first discovered this talented artist by the name of Dave Grusin. It was 1978. I was in the theatre watching the Warren Beatty movie, "Heaven Can Wait" which was a remake of a classic movie called "here comes, mr. jordan". There was theme music being played throughout the movie. I had to know who and what that music was!! in those days, there was no amazon.com, forget about amazon, there were no computers! if you didnt catch all the music listed at the end of a movie, you had to run to your nearest music store and hope there was a soundtrack recording of your favorite movie! which in this case, i did just that! now, 30 years later, I can honestly say I own every Dave Grusin CD every made! this one-"Cinemagic" is number one on my list! make it yours too!..you wont be disappointed!
