An Awesome CD from an Underrated Band
If you liked their last effort (Wide Eyed) then you'll love this CD. If you didn't like their last effort, you will still love this CD. If you've never heard of these guys, go check them out, listen to The SKY on their myspace and come right back here and order the CD because every song on this album is great.
My two favorites are "Try to Define" and...

A Disappointment
I took this disc for a spin...a couple of times, and was disappointed each time. Some cds take time to grow on you; I gave this one a chance, but it just fell short. I originally bought this cd because the song cinematographic had me hooked me. But there weren't very many standout songs other than this one. Unfortunately, many of the songs sounded similar. It took me a few listens to get used to songs like "St. Louis" and "Under the Radar" but I've grown to appreciate them as much as every other track on the album. Pick this up, you won't be disappointed.

Musical Excellence!, June 26, 2007
This review is from: Cinematographic (Audio CD)
It seems every new album TJV puts out the better it gets and this album is no exception. The lyrics are very well written and have a lot to say. Going from Wide Eyed to this shows how much they have matured.
I would definately recommend this cd to everyone!

Complex Cinematographic A Well Made Indie wonder, June 20, 2007
This review is from: Cinematographic (Audio CD)
There's a load of excellence in the lyrics of Cinematographic, from I WENT BLIND and weaving through the CD, pick up the booklet, read along and get the full treatment on what appears on the surface as a small indie release but has a lot of layers to it.
Four listens later, I'm still pulling this apart and all for good reasons: its great work, through and through.

Worth a try, I guess., October 26, 2007
This review is from: Cinematographic (Audio CD)
I had to listen to this album a whole bunch of times before being able to get into it. Not really my thing at all, but I'm definitely able to see why others might. There's no denying the fact that the music is well written and recorded: there's a lot going on instrumentally and fans of technical musicianship / music nerds should eat this up. And then there's the steady stream of hooks, which will keep you humming along and tapping your foot. In short, The Junior Varsity do what they do much better than many other bands in the same genre... which is emo, I guess, although it's much too upbeat and happy to take that label. The overall sound is a bit tough to compare to other bands. I hear bits in there that have the intensity of Refused but then along comes some of the poppy jangle of something from Walking Concert twisted into a Jimmy Eat World-ish tune. All in all, I'd say that it's an album worth checking out. Fans will undoubtedly pick this up and fall in love, but there's enough interesting material here to grab some new fans, too.
