This book is a very tough read without first having an understanding of hebrew, qabala and gematria or numerology. The "revolutionary" concepts may be clear to the author, but his interpretation to the uninitiated falls well short of complete comprehension.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Science of the Structure of Energy, April 9, 2000

This review is from: The Cipher of Genesis: The Original Code of the Qabala as Applied to the Scriptures (Paperback)
If you can stand having your basic assumptions turned literally upside-down (some cannot) and don't mind having profound and revolutionary ideas handed to you on a silver platter, this is the book for you.

Suares' work stands almost totally apart from any other exegesis of Qabala in the last 500 years. It is focused on Yetziratic Qabala (in contrast to the Zoharic traditions dealt with in most modern literature) and is presented in terms appropriate for our times -- as the science of the structure of energy.

Be aware -- this is not a speculative work. The Cipher of Genesis offers two levels of truth, each equally amazing and challenging, each with potentially great significance if accepted into the psyche of the reader.

The first -- that the original, most Holy, book of the West, the Hebrew Bible, was written in code -- and we're not talking Rabbi's names here -- is revolutionary enough.

The second -- and this is what turns the work away from speculation and into a science project -- is the publishing of the key to the code for independent deciphering and verification.

Suares says, in the Cipher, that there is a buried, or rather formative language hidden in the Hebrew letters of the Bible. They are right there before our eyes as code we didn't know was code, with meanings that are shadows or inversions of the encoded meaning. The Keys have been given. See for yourself. --primematter@yahoo.com

5.0 out of 5 stars The poetry of the Hebrew language: Images and numbers, March 22, 1999
By
This review is from: The Cipher of Genesis: The Original Code of the Qabala as Applied to the Scriptures (Paperback)
Suares first caught my attention in his analysis of the Sefir Yetsira, which I purchased in 1976, but could not -- or did not-- access until this past year, Sept. 1998. Suares uses the symbolism of numbers in the Hebrew alphabet to build metaphorical meaning into simple letters, words, and stories. To participate in the unfolding of the opening of the Book of Genesis, for example, is to taste of the essential nature of his enterprise. I have spent many many hours in a state of imaginative ecstasy and fascination as the symbolism of Cain (Qaheen) and the story of the Garden of Eden expand in my mind. The experience of this book and the Sefir Yetsira transcends for me the reading of the most profound poetry: e.g. Whitman's Out of the Cradle, Eliot's Four Quartets, Wallace Stevens' Auroras of Autumn and William Butler Yeats Lapis Lazuli. As a result of Suares' works,I have marked up my Strong's Hebrew dictionary and made a catalogue of my own key words and have been investigating the Hebrew letter connections with the Tarot started by The Golden Dawn. Moreover, I have begun to come to terms with the holocaust as part of the unfoldment of the mystery of life. Even Camus' Plague makes actual religious sense -- not as God's punishment, but as the discovery of the role of resistance in our spiritual growth. (I trivialize by trying to explain.) I only wish that I could have access to a person as conversant with this wing of Qabbalistic study as Suares was.

5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant, luminous book, February 13, 1999
This review is from: The Cipher of Genesis: The Original Code of the Qabala as Applied to the Scriptures (Paperback)
One cannot "read" this book, as one reads a novel or a newspaper. This book is really a kind of poem. It was meant to be approached meditatively, where each sentence is allowed to germinate and then explode within the soul. It is a rare and brilliant gem, an altogether novel and luminously mature approach to the presentation of kabbalah and religion.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Bible is written in code!, May 22, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The Cipher of Genesis: The Original Code of the Qabala as Applied to the Scriptures (Paperback)
Whether you understand it, or not, this is probably the most important book you will ever read. If you allow yourself to enter into the revelation presented by Carlos Suares in _Cipher of Genesis_, your world will be turned upside-down and your belief-systems and myths will either run crying into the darkness or will dissolve and let in the rainbow.

"The keys have already been given."

What if someone said to you, "look, let me show you something, here, in the most important Book in the whole Western tradition, right at the beginning where it could never be missed, see, look at these letters?" "They are in code."

There is a hidden message encoded into the beginning of the Bible, that will break your universe wide open.

Now, what do you do?

For less than the effort to learn how to ballroom dance or play bad guitar or read a few Stephen King novels, you can test the truth of this unbelievable proposition --

the Bible is written in code

-- and find out for yourself.

"Oh, and it's the code to unlock your Self."

Suares' work at the end of this century will eventually be recognized as not just revolutionary, but truely epochal in signaling a transformation at the core of human consciousness and psychological development.

The _Cipher of Genesis_ is Suares' gateway to the Revived Qabala, defined in terms appropriate for our times as the science of the structure of energy. "A completely generalized, semantically-correct language dealing with biologically-structured energies in different states of organization."

What you will need:

a careful reading of this book, and a Hebrew Bible or interlinear translation of Genesis. 5-10 hours of serious study to prepare the soil and plant the seed which will then either live or die.

5.0 out of 5 stars Major paradigm upheaval--Great stuff for the open mind, December 17, 1998

Suares pulls back the veil of the Bible. This book is not for the faint of heart or he who seeks security in the status quo. Finally the bible makes sense to the one who is only slightly aware. The work penetrates time and space.

5.0 out of 5 stars Intellegent, healthily disturbing, July 18, 1999

This book, if read carefully, can act as a tool for the mature and precise dismissal of the limiting ego. If it's implications are even partially realised, the reders conciousness has at least a chance of releasing itself from material gravity.

5.0 out of 5 stars The restoration of truly-human values and genuine good sense, January 22, 1999
This review is from: The Cipher of Genesis: The Original Code of the Qabala as Applied to the Scriptures (Paperback)
As a long-time student of Carlo Suares' great work, I must add these few words to the reviews for "THE CIPHER OF GENESIS".

One reviewer writes, "This book is not for the faint of heart". Neither is "real life" or "real truth" for the faint of heart, believe me. But for the western student who has looked responsibly to the east (or elsewhere), for those with genuine but immature insight which can find no fulfillment, for those who have begun to "know" intuitively but cannot define that knowing, for those who seriously wish to realize their potential as human beings, for those who are rightfully "troubled" by what passes almost universally as "truth", this IS the most important book ever written. Penetrating the original code just a little (and Suares does that for us) is the ultimate defining, freeing, jaw-dropping experience. Both the individual and the world are saved in that one gesture, in that one, universe-shattering moment.

Look further. Here - with persistence - are the answers for which all serious students have struggled. I said, "....with persistence". And do not expect to be let off the proverbial "responsibility hook". To the contrary!

Further, Suares does not "tell you something" and ask you to "believe" it. No, he simply becomes the voice of your deeper knowing, eloquently revealing what you will recognize as already quite obvious. "There is one truth. Sages call it by various names." Here is that one truth defined and illuminated as the Hebrew Revelation, then as the real life and real sacrifice of Reb YHSHWH, all of it revealed. Still further, the Hebrew suddenly becomes the Buddhist and the Hindu, etc., in their purist, germinal expressions. Study this book, then weep for what "religion" - and predictably the world - have become.

A NOTE OF WARNING: As with every "revelation", Qabala has been trivialized, reduced, qualified, colored, commercialized, adapted to the ordinary mind. (There are many currently-popular versions of "the code". There is even "a church". BE CAREFUL AT EVERY STEP!) Suares' work does not suffer from that insidious disease. His Qabala survives triumphantly to restore and precisely define the germinal source from which the lesser revelations arise and back to which they should, ideally, lead us. (....unless they are first co-opted, as always, by one or another of self-interested, sub-human entities.)

Buy two copies of this book, one to preserve in a vault for posterity, for the sake of life and truth, and for the world, the other to cherish as your primary source of strength and commitment in a world gone mad with trivialized, comic book religion.

YES, HERE IT IS! THIS IS WHAT YOU'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR

mr Suares should be praised for his inspired work yet cautioned for venturing into the realms of doubting Mozaic law. His insights into Genisis are profound however his insertion of modern western shortcomings in morality are irresponsible

1.0 out of 5 stars Beware!!!!!!!, January 21, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Cipher of Genesis: The Original Code of the Qabala as Applied to the Scriptures (Paperback)
This book is not what it appears to be. This is not a book to build up Christianity, Judaism or Islamics. On the contrary, I have never seen anything written with such a tone as this author has for God. Our God is good and not out to do us harm or mess with our minds. The Old Testament is real and not a myth as Suares wants you to believe it is. This book is not deciphering some code, he is using it to make you believe his way.
