A new and clear voice,
By
This review is from: Ciranda (Audio CD)
A co-worker went away to Brazil and came back with 50 CD's from Rio. Through her, I've only begun recently to develop an interest in Brazilian music. I was in a Tower Records recently where this wonderful artist's work was being spotlighted as a new release. It's only rarely that I listen to a CD in a store and decide to buy it based solely on the first cut. Subsequently I've listened to the whole album several times, and when I bring Ciranda into work with me, I have to remind my co-worker to give it back to me (she likes to put it on continuous play and just let it go). Faraco has a lovely voice and a poetic spirit, and I look forward to hearing more from him.

I read somewhere that mr. faraco left brasil for paris because he was disappointed with the latest trends in brazilian music. Although I'm not sure if I can completely agree with him, his first album is definitely one of the best brazilian records I've heard in the long time. He sticks to acoustic and makes exceptionally fine, smooth music in the best bossanova tradition with some original ingredients. Faraco collaborated closely with Wagner Tiso (he did many wonderful things for Milton Nascimento among others), who played piano and contributed some brilliant strings and horns arrangements. Chico Buarque also sings on title track but you should see and hear Faraco performing live with his band. He gave a free concert in Ljubljana, Slovenia, this summer and it was absolutely wonderful evening.

5 stars for each of his 3 albums. Why this guy is not better known in the USA, and even Brazil! amazes me. Maybe it's a lack of a major label. Maybe it's the style of music is not popular any more. See my reviews on his other two CD's. This, his first album is equal to the other two - if only slightly less "clean" recording quality. And I'm nitpicking here as I'm a finicky audiophile.

A talented vocalist from Brazil,
This review is from: Ciranda (Audio CD)
Marcio Faraco's impressive vocal performances really distinguish "Ciranda." This Brazilian performer's voice is hypnotic and ethereally beautiful. The rhythms of these songs are generally mellow, with touches of playfulness. Although there weren't any songs that particularly stood out from the pack for me, the CD as a whole is definitely worth listening too.

I'd rate it 10 stars and above!!This is one of the most bestest albums I ever heard! Márcio is a genius who plays as if it was a simple stuff. His chords are delicately put together, his themes are simple but very impressively explored. He counts on the "luxurious help" (não dá pra traduzir "auxílio luxuoso" de maneira compreensível! Só em Português mesmo! Sorry!) of people like Chico Buarque on the tilte track, and each of the subsequent tracks keep some flavours of Caetano Veloso, Arto Lindsay, Cesar Costa Filho and other cute musicians. Although he comes from Brasilia, his music sounds like "mineira". His producer, Wagner Tiso, is a monster who needs no more comments. The resulting album could not be different! 8^)

In the days of prefabed pop music, it is good to see there are some real singer songwriters still around creating greaat music, such as Marcio Faraco. When I first hears this CD, I felt his songs leaped from the speakers and grabbed me as the lister. I would have to say I hear about one or two CD's a year which sound "fresh" and this is definitely one of them! Definitely buy this CD!

Marcio Faraco - Ciranda,

Excellent CD. Very South American, a cross between samba and folk music, which I wouldn't have thought would be my cup of tea at all. However, I'd heard the title track (completely different source - a CD of classical and a few world music tracks) and I thought that was great, so I tracked down the CD. The other tracks aren't quite up to the standard of Ciranda, but still very worth listening to in my opinion. If you like CIranda, you'll like the rest of the CD.

Marcio Faraco is a fresh musical wave from Brazil via France,

CIRANDA, Marcio Faraco's first album is lyrical, rhythmic, and beautiful. His is a sound that is fresh, true to his roots, yet unique. Faraco is no slick sounding Bossa-Nova-come-lately. He writes his own material and arranges his songs in a compellingly melodic fashion. I do not speak Portuguese, but it doesn't matter -- the words and music convey the essence regardless. This cd and his second effort, INTERIOR, are consistently played in my house. Marcio Faraco's third cd, Com Tradiçào, is due out, in France only at this point, at the end of February 2005 on the Emarcy label. I will buy it from Amazon.fr (France) because if it is anywhere near his first two releases, it will be worth hearing again & again.

brilliant weave of pensively colored sound,

Marcio Faraco is far less well-known than he should be. I don't mind that so much, since I prefer to find original music for myself that nobody in my circle of influence has encountered previously. However, I think this guy deserves to have more people know about his existence. I was fortunate enough to be browsing through foreign music selections at a used CD shop near my home and I happened upon this disc. I listened to bits of the songs there in the store and instantly purchased it. It's an album that I play for everybody I know, and I have had nothing but positive response to it. Each song is expertly crafted and evokes beautiful thoughts and memories. This is excellent daydream music, even if you're not a natural daydreamer. A classic album.
