5.0 out of 5 stars The Simple Beauty of Choral Chant
This album has a choral sound to it - it's a lovely, well-trained chorus of women singers chanting and singing prayers with often a minimal amount of instrumental accompaniment, though the flutes and drums etc, which do make an appearance are lovely.

3.0 out of 5 stars Lovely, but can get a bit monotonous
The singing is really great and I loved listening to the great range of songs from different countries. However, the songs can grate on one after frequent listenings because the singing style is relatively invariant.

This album has a choral sound to it - it's a lovely, well-trained chorus of women singers chanting and singing prayers with often a minimal amount of instrumental accompaniment, though the flutes and drums etc, which do make an appearance are lovely.

A lot of the songs are traditional ones that you'll hear on a lot of other Goddess-centered albums, but these are the most elegant, choral versions of them that you'll hear. Also, this album is packed full of tracks, so it's a good buy.

If you like pretty, choral music and you like Goddess songs and chants, I think you'll enjoy this simple album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extraordinary and haunting, September 30, 1998
This review is from: Circle Is Cast (Audio CD)
Libana's all-women a capella music is a remarkable compilation of earth-centered chants and songs from several cultures. It is by far one of the best collection of Goddess-oriented songs available. It is truly an unforgettable work--nothing else comes remotely close.

5.0 out of 5 stars beautiful music, August 2, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Circle Is Cast (Audio CD)
i had an A Circle is Cast tape as a little girl and would listen to it just for the beautiful melodies. I found my old tape this week and have been listening to it day and night. I looked on the Internet and in the Library for Libana and could find nothing. I am so happy I found them, and found out they have more music! For those spiritual listeners, it has wonderful messages about the earth and the natural world. For those Wiccan listeners, it's chants and songs are wonderful for songs of our mother and our connection to everything around us. For those listeners who love beautiful music, it is one of the most beautiful sounds i've heard, with lullabyes, chants, and parting songs that will fill you with the clearest melodies.

5.0 out of 5 stars Uplifting, inspiring, spiritual, ancient/eternal music., June 12, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Circle Is Cast (Audio CD)
Every time I listen to this music, I learn something new. It contains messages at so many levels. It sings of nature, women, and the nature of life/God. It puts me back in touch with my essential self, that is, joy, strength, freedom, wisdom, and one with the earth/all things. Both men and women will come to a deeper understanding about the true nature of feminine energy, which we all have, regardless of our gender.

5.0 out of 5 stars getting better everytime I listen to it, March 18, 2003

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Circle Is Cast (Audio CD)
I bought the CD only off of the reviews as I was not able to listen to the songs from the site. First I would NOT completely judge the CD from the first for songs that Amazon lets you listen to, because they are the most Church chior like of all the songs on the album.
When I first got the album and listened to the first six songs they reminded me tooo much of being in a cathedral with a 20 women chorus singing. After the first six songs it reminds me of christmas caroling with too perfect singers. The songs range from deeply repetative chants such as
"the circle is cast, again and again and again, the circle is cast..."
Or "the earth the air the fire the water, returns returns returns returns..."
to songs that I would have expected in what I can't think of explaining except as "Old country" or "folk songs" through the same medium of caroling.
Then there are a few songs that are still hard for me to listen to as I already mentioned remind me of being sung from a cathedral.
All of the songs sound very professional. Some songs have some (very few) instruments but most all of the music is vocal.
At first there were only four songs that I thought I would listen to over and over. And my first impression probably would have given it a 3 or 4 stars, with the comment that it is for a very specific type of listener. Now only after listening to it a few times, I find the whole album to grow on me and I find solice and peace and healing when listening to the album.
I hope you find the same, blessed be.

5.0 out of 5 stars She changes everything she touches, October 27, 2000

Listening to this CD allows your energy, your vibrations, to resonate with the beauty of the earth and the stars and the mountains and the sea until the beauty of all that is becomes the beauty of who you are. It is a healing experience, and a celebration, of all that is good in the world. A must for any working wiccan.

I had an old warn out cassette of this music and I'm glad to see that it's now available in CD format. The sound quality is much better than the old cassette. The voices are beautiful voice and the songs are thrilling. The arrangements are well done.

I don't know if you can wear out a CD, but I play this more often than any other music I own. It's perfect whenever I want to set a sacred mood. I love the variety of styles on it . Libana's voices blend beautifully, and they all seem to be excellent soloists as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Feminine Celebration, September 26, 2005
This review is from: Circle Is Cast (Audio CD)
I can't imagine being without this CD. This is my third copy as I give it away, and then have to get it again. The voices are sweet and clear. The songs fit so many different occasions. I have taught them to women's circles, and circles of children. They gently encourage you to lift your voice in celebration.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worldly, August 1, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Circle Is Cast (Audio CD)
I have enjoyed both the Libana albums that I have purchased very much. While this type of music is not for everyone, the rounds really help me relax with their interesting rhythms that almost remind me of Gregorian chant. It's almost completely a capella and all women's voices. The influences from around the world really appeal to me as well. The musical quality is very good. This isn't something I'd listen to in the car, but it is something that I would listen to if I needed to induce calm or intense concentration.
