Genius with a monkey and a gun!,

With the entire Eddie Izzard catalog inherently being compared to "Dress to Kill" by fans everywhere, the performance made by our favorite Executive Transvestite in "Circle" definitely gives D2K a run for it's Oscar money. At the very beginning, a catchy bit of theme music sets the attitude for the beginning of the show. Eddie's irreverence shines brightly in the very first seconds of his dialogue ("Hi, welcome to New York... you probably live here...?") What follows is a cataclysmic roller coaster that takes you from Pope Man (and his sidekick Alter Boy, armed with Holy Water and Jesus Disks) to a universe that is awesome like a hot dog! Eddie's delivery isn't close to perfect, which is what makes his performance perfect. His free-flowing thought keeps you captivated for the entire show. To go from organ players at Baseball games to the meek deciding that they don't need to inherit the Earth? You'll wonder how you ever got there, but you'll laugh the entire time. My only recommendation would be to see the DVD of this show first. It's not a big deal (the show is incredible either way) but to understand all the physical segments beyond audio comprehension, the DVD is a must. Either way, "Circle" is a seamless performance that is, simply put, "awesome" (like a hot dog.)

stick with Dressed to Kill and Glorious, because next to those Circle is hackneyed, repetitive and ... flat. dont get me wrong, i love eddie, he's fabulous, but if you're buying his shows, skip this one. i wish i had.

Circle - Eddie Izzard concert,
This review is from: Circle (Audio CD)
very dissappointed in this concert. As a die hard E I fan I noticed that Eddie used old material, and was very full of himself in the pre concert interview. Because of this poor concert I didn't bother with the next "Sexy".

Excellent album,

Fans of British humor will like this especially. Even if you're not its still funny, eclectic irreverent humor.

In a word...brilliant,

Eddie Izzard is one of the best unknown and/or under appreciated comedians of our time. Oh and he's also a pretty solid actor...see The Riches, Velvet Goldmine, Shadow of the Vampire, Mystery Men, Ocean's Twelve, Thirteen, etc.
Genius. |
