this is a really beautiful book. i don't know why the cover is sooo different from the lovely illustartion inside, but the inside pictures are surprising and great. my daughter points to the real objects we see form the book and says triangle for pizza, and stuff like that.
the colors are bright and eye catching.

A Kid's Review on March 9, 2009
Format: Board book
This is a useful book to teach about different kinds of shapes. Aside from circle and square, it includes heart, diamond, crescent, among others. The images are easily remembered because each page features a shape of a familiar object, presented with a person or an animal connected to it. This book offers more than what other board books of the same price do.

I like this book. I'm a former special education teacher with my masters in literacy. My only complaint is I wish there were more words. It only says the shape and in my opinion when they are learning shapes they should already be reading stories with sentences on the pages not just one word. But I do like the book, I just have to make up whatever I'm going to say for each shape.

This is a short but excellent book. After reading it a few times to my daughter, she now knows all her shapes! It didn't take long but she now first tells me the name of the shape and I repeat it back and say "correct." I would buy again and recommend for anyone wanting to tech their kid shapes.

This is just adequate, to me; I guess the point is simplicity in this case, but my daughter likes to be READ to, so I was hoping for some kind of narrative or at least a "a circle can be found in ____, _____, and ____" kind of thing. What I got was CIRCLE, SQUARE, TRIANGLE, etc. on each page. The illustrations are pretty, and it'll be a nice learning tool for comparing to real-life objects, I think.

Was one of several books I ordered to teach math concepts to preschoolers. It is a colorful and informative book written at the level of young children my students and I enjoy it's illustrations and information !

Just an average shape book. Just one shape on each page, only the basic shapes. Not a whole lot of detail on the pages. Just not what I was looking for. If you are just looking for a very simple shape book then this is fine, I was hoping for a little more detail.

The illustrations in this book are colorful and simple and many of them should be recognizable to young children. There is no "story" to this book, just words and their corresponding shapes worked into a charming illustration. I can't say that this book taught my children their shapes, we also had simple puzzles and other shape books, but they did enjoy looking at the pictures over and over and identifying the shapes. I'm glad this is a board book because it's pretty beaten up, but still readable.
