Letters of children, expressing their feelings about the Oklahoma City bombing in ways only children can,
By Charles Ashbacher (Marion, Iowa United States) - See all my reviews (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE) (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER)
This review is from: A Circle of Love: The Oklahoma City Bombing Through the Eyes of Our Children (Hardcover)
In the lengthy aftermath of the events on September 11, 2001, the horrific bombing in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma has been somewhat forgotten. While the numbers of dead and injured were greater in New York, the change in the national mood was in some ways greater over the Oklahoma City bombing. For the perpetrators were domestic in origin and it should have forever dispelled the false sense of invulnerability Americans had to terrorist acts.
This book is a collection of letters from very young children expressing their feelings about the bombing in ways only children can. All adults should realize that children feel threatened by such events more than adults do, because they have less understanding of the causes of the bombing. The author is to be commended for putting together this collection of letters, it contains lessons for all people, from the youngest child that can read and write to the oldest adult.
