5.0 out of 5 stars Diverse, catchy, my four-year-old loves it!, August 14, 2005

This review is from: Circle Round and Sing (Audio CD)
I bought this CD wondering just how "rough" it was going to sound - I was surprised that it sounds quite professional (more so than, say, any Reclaiming CD). Ann Hill's voice is lovely and folksy, and other voices (women and children) join her throughout the album. As for the songs being "complicated" - well, my four-year-old knew most of the album by heart after only a few drives around town with it playing in the car. The songs are simple but beautiful, some more "kid-like" (major key, basic rhythm) and some more "chant-y" (minor key, more complex rhythm). This is the first CD my kid has ever specifically requested me to play - and play it I have, over and over and over. Luckily, I love it, too!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Very Interesting CD, May 11, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Circle Round and Sing (Audio CD)
This CD has 19 songs. I think her songs are exciting. I love the CD. It makes me happy. I like the songs that Anne Hill writes and the songs called "Moon Folly" and "Fur and Feathers." My mom loves the songs too. When I play this CD, my class might love the songs too. One more song I like is "The Sun Is Born." I played the CD and it was perfect. I really like this CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Music Magic for the Entire Family, September 6, 2004
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Circle Round and Sing (Audio CD)
The songs on this CD are wonderful.

A great companion for the book "Circle Round" - the energy is about family, life, and living. It is music for the family learning the traditions of the old way brought to new life without limitations in present society. For those not of a Wicca or Pagan path, this music can give you insight into what those paths actually represent. You may find inspiration, understanding and appreciation for a fresh way of looking at life that resonates with your heart.

We all have many music choices - this music is about family, living and life. I especially enjoyed bringing this to my family. The songs are "Folk Music", and teenagers at first will look at you with "What is this?", then a minute later they are humming and singing along then realizing that they are enjoying the music.

It's refreshing - new - old - full of life.

I hope more music collections of this type are released.

My only regret is that such music was not available to me when I was a child. The messages, lyrics, energy, of this collection are positive, uplifting, and inspiring.

- David, Male, Age 40, brought up in all traditions non-path, thank God(dess)for those keeping these traditions alive for those of us who have been lost for so long searching for truth, love, peace...and their path.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Companion to the book, June 28, 2003

While I must agree the singing isn't as professional as many of today's CD's, this is still a wonderful CD. It's not meant to be a slick production. It's meant to be a companion to the book and to enjoy the music with your children. I listened to the CD by myself at first and was a little put off. Then I listened to the CD with my children & discovered a whole new appreciation. My children love this CD and it's fun! It's not supposed to be Britney Spears. It is supposed to be about the Pagan religion and celebrating that religion with simple songs. And even though my daughter just loooves Britney, she loves the Circle Round CD even more. My advice? If you have kids, get the CD. If you have the book & love it, get the CD. And when you pop it in, don't expect anything more than to just have fun! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Circle Round, January 6, 2005

This review is from: Circle Round and Sing (Audio CD)
Come circle round the living room and dance to the catchy tunes. We were unable to keep our bodies still while listening to this wonderful music. The lyrics are easy to understand and memorize for future sing alongs. My children want to listen to this music every morning while getting ready for school. Ann Hill's voice is soothing and melodic. The music is mostly vocal with instrumental assist. A must have for every collection.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good songs, sing-along quality, February 27, 2004
This review is from: Circle Round and Sing (Audio CD)
The songs are wonderful, and its great to see them available for everyone. The only drawback is the unprofessional production. Still it goes with the book and is a fun activity for families or a sing along for adults.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun, Catchy songs, A GREAT CD for the family!, April 17, 2003

The songs are catchy and easy for children to learn and sing along with. I catch my daughter singing these songs under her breath all the time. Sometimes she starts belting out a tune in the middle of the grocery store, and it pleases me that these songs are so appealing to her that she feels the need to share with everyone! I love this CD, too. It is also nice to know what the tune to the songs written in the Circle Round book are, for those of us who can't read music and always wondered, "How does that song go, anyway?" Circle Round is great for children and grownups and belongs in every pagan family's music library!

4.0 out of 5 stars Pagan Family Fun, January 3, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Circle Round and Sing (Audio CD)
I originally ordered this CD because I had the companion book, and because I have a little one who loves to sing and dance. We like most of the songs and find it a well-produced album, one that doesn't try too hard to be something it's not. Most Pagans are lucky if they have even a guitarist in their midst, and the songs are easy to sing, even a capella. The children's voices featured on the album are sweet and in tune, Anne Hill's voice is pleasant to hear and easy to sing along with, and we've reccommended this album to several other Pagan families that we know.

Some of the songs are a little hokey and too sing-songy for my taste, but they're balanced with so many other beautiful tracks that I find myself not really minding them at all; however, a few tracks are listed as written by Ms. Hill when in fact the melodies are lifted from other songs (all in the public domain, but still I feel it's dishonest to not acknowledge).

Overall, it's a great album if you're a Pagan parent looking for a CD that you and your kids will enjoy listening to. We like it at home and in the car, and it's charming to hear our two year old singing to the moon whenever she sees it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Music for the whole family, March 26, 2004
This review is from: Circle Round and Sing (Audio CD)
I received this cd as a gift for my granddaughter. We have all heard it so much I am about to order another one for us and her. It is soothing, inspiring, and has become a family tradition It is "our music". She is almost 8 now and knows all the words. It is excellent for babies, toddlers, and older children and like I said the whole family.

5.0 out of 5 stars Circel Round Sings, September 7, 2005
This review is from: Circle Round and Sing (Audio CD)
This cd contains the beautiful energy of her creators. It is a harmonious balance, with daughters singing in the background, that invites other children to sing along, is a great introductory cd for children into Earth wisdom and keeps me happily humming long after the cd is over.
