I wrote this novel purely as a labor of love. It's fast-paced, and unpredictable, with every event leading up to the climax fitting into the ending like pieces of a watch; to the point, where once you finish the book, you'll feel like it couldn't have ended any other way.

This novel was written primarily for Young Adults but should prove to a good read for all above the age of 11. Set in modern day Rhode Island, against a backdrop of the ocean-embraced island of Aquidneck, Sandy and April discover their Magikal destiny. The teens struggle to master their newfound skills as taught to them by their aunts and governed by the Laws of Magik; predating the laws of science. They race against time and the 'Seeds of Evil' in a fast paced adventure to save their friend Mandy. Should they fail Mandy and more is lost as the 'Circle of Two' will never be a 'Circle of Three'.

About the Author

This is the debut novel for A. Valentine Smith. Originally was from the Niagara Falls area, he now makes his home in Newport, RI. This is his first foray into both the Young Adult and Fantasy/Magik genres, combining fast-paced action with a thought provoking twist; Magik restricted by laws that are the predecessors of modern day science.

This book starts out pretty quickly. The introduction to the characters is well written; however it can be a little confusing. The book is mostly about two best friends that find an old scrapbook of poetry, that one of their grandmothers left them. The plot thickens when the two girls discover that the poems in the book are in fact magic spells. Overall the book was very interesting and well written. I will enjoy reading the sequel to this story!
