A FLUENT, COMPELLING READING,
This review is from: Circles in the Stream (Avalon Web of Magic, Book 1) (Audio CD)
With motion picture appearances, two platinum solo albums, and being dubbed one of Teen People's "25 Hottest Stars Under 25," you'd think 17-year-old Mandy Moore didn't have many more mountains to climb. Well, she just scaled another with her fluent, compelling reading of this fantasy adventure.Three girls, not the least bit alike, are all drawn to a secret place deep in the woods. First, there is Emily whose parents have divorced prompting a move for Emily and her Mom form home in Colorado to a small town in Pennsylvania. New school, new kids, new everything. Yuck! Her Mom is a vet and Emily enjoys helping in the animal hospital. Then one day a badly burned animal that resembles a cat is brought in. Emily is afraid because she has never seen an animal so dreadfully injured nor has she ever seen an animal that looked like this. Most astounding of all: she believes the animal spoke. Puzzled and uncertain, Emily goes to the wildlife preserve where the animal was found in the hope of finding some answers. Once there she finds astounding animals, all peaceful but searching. She also meets Ariadne who is shunned by the other kids because she lives in the preserve with her grandmother and is considered strange. The two girls join forces, determined to help these beautiful creatures. However, an unknown evil follows the pair. And, they discover they have been selected to be rescuers, that three girls are intended to save the animals. Who can the other girls be? Listen for a host of surprises.

The Start of a Great Series,
By Jen (the USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Circles in the Stream (Avalon Web of Magic, Book 1) (Paperback)
There are many different kinds of Fantasy series, but few you can really get into. I'm proud to say that Avalon: Web of Magic is one of them. The whole series is about these three girls (Adrienne the dark and mysterious Warrior, Emily the kind and helpful Healer, and Kara, the popular and bratty Blazing Star) have to find the home of all the magic, Avalon, before the Dark Sorceress gets to it. There are many details but I don't want to fill up the whole page. In this particular book, Emily and Adrienne find out about the magic, and have to save the magical Phel and find out what's causing all the animal attacks. You can really relate to the characters, and almost all are likeable. Most people, I think, will like Adrienne the best, although Emily is also a popular character. Heck, even Kara grows on you. All in all, this series is wonderful. Some people might not read it because it says ages 9-12, but that doesn't mean other age groups (like me) won't like it. Hopefully, Avalon will score big one day, and if it doesn't, it deserves to.

Greatest Series Ever!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Circles in the Stream (Avalon Web of Magic, Book 1) (Paperback)
This book was awesome! Like some others, I thought Harry Potter was the best, untill I read this book. It is a wonderful story that shows friendship, adventure, suspense, and magic. Emily just moved to Stonehill and is shy and kind, but doesn't have any friends. Adrienne is the loner and independent one and travels a lot( Her parents are artists). Kara is the snobby, spoiled, and popular one. They have almost nothing in common, except magic. The story's plot is when a monster from another world comes to earth and poisons all the magical animals who live there. Emily has healing powers and has to help them with the help of Phel, a wonderful and magical creature. Emily, Adrienne, and Kara have to put away their diferences and work together to fight the monster with some help from the magical animals and Ozzie, an adventerous elf who is stuck in a ferrets' body. A fantastic book for all ages.

high praise from a parent,

This review is from: Circles in the Stream (Avalon Web of Magic, Book 1) (Paperback)
My eight-year-old was beside herself. When I asked what she was reading, she showed me this book. Then we read a few pages together and before I knew it, we shared the whole book. The experience was magical. We loved it. We read to each other and to the dog. Yup, even our dog loved it. The story works on many levels, mostly just fun and dramatic (like a good Disney movie), but it also deals with some key issues of moral behavior and making your dreams come true, all of which inspired my daughter to think about what she can accomplish in her own life. She can't wait for the second book and neither can I.

Well...,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Circles in the Stream (Avalon Web of Magic, Book 1) (Paperback)
Circles in the Stream was a very good book, but not that great. It really seems that the author took a lot of ideas from the Tolkien books and Harry Potter. Overall, its worth buying if you are looking for a good fantasy book. I just don't think that kids who have read the Fellowship series and the Harry Potters will enjoy it that much. As a child myself, I thought that I could do much better not knowing about it and sticking to the other fantasy stories. If your child is 9-11, and needs a new fantasy book in their hands, this one is for you. Buy it on Amazon today!

The first book in an enchanting new fantasy series.,
This review is from: Circles in the Stream (Avalon Web of Magic, Book 1) (Paperback)
After her parents divorced, twelve-year-old Emily left her Colorado home to move to a small Pennsylvania town with her mother. Pennsylvania is so different from the western mountains, where she had lived her entire life. Emily has no friends in her new town and spends her days helping her mother, a veterinarian, at their kennel and animal hospital. A horribly wounded animal with strange burns is brought to Emily's mother by a sullen, unfriendly girl who lives in the woods at an old animal preserve. While walking the dogs at the kennel, Emily stumbles upon the preserve, and a magical glade full of beautiful plants and animals. She also meets the girl, Adriane, and discovers she's not so bad after all. They meet a talking ferret named Ozzie who has come to this world to find the three humans who can help save the creatures of his world. Unfortunately, it seems as if the third human may be the mayor's snobby daughter, Kara. Emily and Adriane will have to put their dislike of Kara aside to save this magical place. This was the first book in an enchanting new fantasy series. I can't wait to read the next book once it is released.

Amazing!,
By Jess Kell "Jessie" (Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Circles in the Stream (Avalon Web of Magic, Book 1) (Paperback)
Though it's been awhile since I last read Circles in the Stream I remember my first reaction. At first I was a little bored, I couldn't seem to get into the story, the first chapter seemed to drag on and on. Then, as I continued to read it I became entranced with it and couldn't wait to turn to the next page. I couldn't wait to see what happened next!
Now I find that not many books are written in this fashion and I've read very few books with three girls so different yet have so much in common. As you read the next books in the series you learn much more about the value of friendship, trust, and truth. This is a great fantasy novel with everything young girls would enjoy. I, even though I'm in grade eight, continue to enjoy the Avalon books.

Avalon A Different Kind of Magic,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Circles in the Stream (Avalon Web of Magic, Book 1) (Paperback)
I have read Harry Potter and Unicorns of Balinor which were excellent fantasy books. But Avalon is different it seems to relate more to people. It is described just as vividly and I seem to be able to relate to Emily,Adriane, and somstimes Kara well. If you are looking for a different kind of fantasy series here is the series you have been looking for!

What a gem!,
By Cynthia A Jacques (Nashua, NH United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Circles in the Stream (Avalon Web of Magic, Book 1) (Paperback)
My seven year old loved this book. She'd sit beside me and read and tell me what was going on as she read. She'd be so excited and animated and so into this book. I was thrilled with her enthusiasm and read it after her. We cannot wait for the next book. I highly recommend this be on school reading lists.
