What a great pot! I was a bit skeptical at first, though I loved my other Circulon pieces and desparately wanted a straining pot, and this really exceeded my expectations.

Like all Circulon 2 products, totally non-stick-- I made angel hair this evening in it, after straining (and we'll get to that in a second), I was stunned to see that even sitting in the pot...

This pot top locked when the pot was in the closet, but when heated and filled with pasta, the top DID NOT secure to the pot and FELL OFF WHILE I WAS POURING HOT SCALDING WATER.

What a great pot! I was a bit skeptical at first, though I loved my other Circulon pieces and desparately wanted a straining pot, and this really exceeded my expectations.

Like all Circulon 2 products, totally non-stick-- I made angel hair this evening in it, after straining (and we'll get to that in a second), I was stunned to see that even sitting in the pot for several minutes, the chewy al-dente I cooked the pasta to never resulted in any of it sticking-- on my previous pot, I'd be fighting to get the last several strands off the pot.

I was also a bit nervous about heating-- this pot is much shorter than comparably sized pots and is much wider, but it heated quickly and evenly.

Now, the locking mechanism-- seal was tight. I experimented filling it with water and picking it up by the handle on the top when locked. No problems. Turned it upside down, water out the holes only. When I actually strained something with it, I was pleased to see that with minimal effort and shaking, I was able to get all the water out (I did have to jostle it a bit to unsettle any trapped liquids, but no moreso than I would with a typical colander).

Highly recommended, I have a sneaking suspicion this will be a new favorite in my home.

I've owned this pot for over a year and absolutely love it. No more fussing with a separate colander to strain spaghetti. The pot is stick-free and easy to clean, too. It's a must-have item.

I may have received a lemon but the cost of this product and the brand, I was extremely dissapointed in this failure. I tried three time to insure I was securing the top correct and ultimately, I returned this pot, purchasing another brand for 1/3 the price and proper performance.

We sent our old $30 pasta pot with a strainer lid with our son to college so we needed a replacement. This pot is so much better than the old one and super easy to clean. In the retail stores it is twice as much so this was a great deal. We'll probably be ordering another one for our vacation home soon.

I have owned this fabulous pot for about 7 years. Yes, it's a GREAT pot for cooking and draining pasta, but I use it for just about everything -- from sauces to stir-fry. It's very durable and so easy to clean. Nothing sticks to it! The stay-cool handles are nice and large, making it very easy to pick up and pour a full pot of boiling water. The pot is very well balanced in your hands. I have given several of these pots as gifts and they love their pots as much as I do. I cannot recommend this pot highly enough.

After purchasing the Circulon 2 cookware and loving it for almost a year, I ordered this casserole pan to compliment my set. So glad I did that! Not only is it great for cooking pasta, but it does a super job of browning ground meats and then draining off the unwanted grease. Was able to handle the pot without dropping it or burning my arms - I have rheumatoid arthritis and have a hard time handling bulky items. Wish I had something like this when all my children were at home. It just makes draining convenient!!! Don't hesitate to purchase this pot or any of the Circulon 2 cookware - you won't be sorry - it is fabulous!

I have been using an inexpensive Colander pot for a few years almost everyday. The coating was very scratched and I could not find a replacement. I really didn't want to pay this much for a pot but I LOVE it!!! Great to be able to wash fresh veggies, drain and cook all in one

4.0 out of 5 stars Circulon Pasta Cooker, July 15, 2009

This review is from: Circulon 2 5-1/2-Quart Casserole with Pouring Colander Lid (Kitchen)
We Purchased this product to replace a larger Circulon pot whose non-stick coating had failed and because it had the locking lid. The first one we received had a cracked handle and the lid wouldn't fit properly, probably damaged in shipping. As is the case with Amazon they immediately replaced the product and it arrived the following day. We have used it several times since receiving it and we love the versatility of uses, we cook pasta, and have used it as a wok, it heats very quickly and maintains high temperature with less fire. It works as advertised and we enjoy using it. I would have given it 5 stars, but the circular pattern in the pot makes for a little harder job of cleaning food residue.
Incidentally, I shipped the defective product to Circulon and they honored the warranty for the failed coating. I did include pictures of other pieces of product that didn't have the same problem, I'm sure that helped.

This review is from: Circulon 2 5-1/2-Quart Casserole with Pouring Colander Lid (Kitchen)
We have used and abused this pot for 6 long years and amazingly there isn't a single scratch in the non-stick. Best $60 I've spent on kitchenware ever! From pasta to seafood there are so many uses for this pot. Due to the nature of design it heats fairly quickly as well.

I bought this pot to cook pasta because of the colander lid, which has a great lock, drains well, and has been excellent for its intended use. But once I saw how great the non-stick surface was, I decided to try other dishes. This was my very first Circulon purchase, and it is the single-most used pot in my kitchen. I use it to brown and saute meats and vegetables, as the sides are high enough that grease doen't spatter. I use it for slow cooking stews and chili, and the colander lid keeps the moisture in. The instructions say to avoid high heat, but I live at high altitude and have to use high heat to get water to boil; in two years of regular use the surface is still perfect. It is so easy to clean I've never been tempted to put it in the dishwasher, and I have used every kind of plastic and wooden tool in it but no metal. I will never buy any other brand but Circulon; it is SOOO worth the money!
