And I was wrong.
Don't get me wrong, the cookware itself works WONDERFULLY. No sticking, pretty easy to clean... quality you would come to expect from Circulon products, or at least I have after decades of being around them and using them.
But the trouble came when I cooked some spaghetti and went to pick the pot off the stove. HANDLE WAS HOT!! I was shocked and crushed. Who on EARTH thought it would be a good idea to put metal handles on pots that get hot? I thought, surely they wouldn't have done this without figuring out a way to keep these handles from getting unbearably hot. But no.
All of the other lines (my sister has the Elite line, my mom Circulon 2, and my grandma the Classic) have the silicone handles. And I am ashamed that I did not even think of that when I bought them. Again, my assumption being that the makers of this line would not have done that without assuring that the handles would not become unsafe to touch without protection.
Of course, I am spoiled by so many other Circulon pots and pans that I have seen/used over the years. And again, the pots work great.
But I am just so sad I could not give this line 5 stars because of this one simple yet crucial issue.
Buy the Elite instead; My sister loves it (and I am jealous).
This cookware is heavy and beautiful and the stainless-steel bases with aluminum cores allow for even cooking across the flat, bottom surface. I've been looking for a cookware set that is dishwasher safe & this one can't be beat. It looks great coming out of the dishwasher. I can only hope it holds up well under extended use.
If you are considering this cookware - watch Amazon for a Friday sale. It's amazing how much the price normally drops for this cookware on Friday.
Before buying I checked them out in person and spent some time at Macy's handing the cookware and seeing if they would match the price (they didn't).
This is what I found.
1) very comfortable handles, good weight (off set by companion handles on the heavier pots)
2) very even heading, proof here is that cooked an egg and there were no brown spots -- it's a test in cooking school that chef's must clear to show off as a basic skill (that I haven't attended)
3) cleans up really easy
4) looks smart
Some of the reviews list that the handles heat up a little, and they do closer to the actual pan, however, I believe that I was using too high heat that was too close to the handle.
Lastly, all pots arrived without any dents -- this is what I would expect, but again some reviews listed this as a problem.
Best I ever bought.
Highly recommend to everyone.
