This 2-3/4-quart steamer is ideal for lightly steaming vegetables or dim sum for four or fish for one. Constructed of brilliant 18/10 stainless steel, it's both durable and attractive. The lid is made of break-resistant glass with a stainless-steel rim, so you can check on your food's progress without lifting the top. Steaming is a healthier way to prepare vegetables, reducing the nutrient loss that occurs in boiling. The steamer, made of stainless steel with small holes in the bottom, fits inside a pot, holding food over boiling water, allowing steam to circulate and cook your food. Our universal insert has graduated sides to fit a variety of pans and includes a break-resistant, see-through glass lid that allows you to monitor cooking progress without removing the lid.

I bought one of these a few years ago to replace one of those collapsible in-pot devices that kept falling apart. This works great ! The variable sized bottom is wonderful because I can use several sized saucepans and don't have to worry about having a specific one available. I love this so much that I bought one for my parents for Christmas and even waited 3 months for it to be in stock (they just got it). My mother, who loves to cook healthy, tossed her collapsible unit and raves about this as well.

It fits a number of pans which is a big help. I was able to replace two steamers. BUT the handle on the lid gets HOT!
