Three's the charm! ******SPOILER ALERT*******, June 4, 2010
These are the questions you want the answers to: Will Doll be found in time? How did Mia get away from the police, or did she? Is Niki a double agent or just out from himself? Will Kayla every get five hours of sleep without a house fire? Will the Phil take a hint and quit the Ops? Will Kayla finally get some lovin?
This is the third book of Kayla Steele's situation that is now her life. Unlike the other books, this book is done in first person, which make sense because she is alone now. Kayla is dealing with her new werewolf problem and is trying to put it off like doing your taxes. However, all the weres pretty much know she was bitten (from the last book). Mutt cannot decide if he wants to betray Karel's memory by taking care of Kayla or staying away. All he ever does is make Kayla think of more ways of why she should punch him in the face and walk away. Mutt can be an overbearing jerk or the guy who never calls.
I was not sure if I was going to continue with this series, but I'm glad I did. The secret military ops is out of this book which is a big plus. (Kayla snuck out of the secret underground compound in the last book and let the bad guys in after she left a soda can wedged in the door. Oops, it could happen to anyone.)
I really like that the weres are fun wolves, and not constantly changing form and falling asleep like other books. The wolves also don't have the stringent rules and politics that are constantly harped on in other books. Cyan-X, the vampire responsible for Karel's death, along with seven other people, is back. Cyan and Kayla share a humorous, but scary bonding moment. The topic: What Cyan is doing wrong and why she can't keep her man. Try doing that and have Cyan not go into a fit of rage and kill the messenger, several times.
Did I mention that Kayla has to find the angel Doll to save the world? By herself?

Anymore?, August 4, 2010
I read all three books and found that the only thing that frustrated me was the jumping around from place to place, and introducing characters without any explaination. However, it did not take away the excitement of the book. I had a hard time following the book a little but still enjoyed it. I was not so pleased with the end though. It left me wondering if there was going to be another book but it seems as though there won't be. It just dropped off out of the blue. I truly hope that there is more coming.

Promsing But Unpolished, September 11, 2010
I haven't read the novels preceeding this one but I don't think I want to. From the very start you get thrown into a story that is full of chaos, destruction, and action moving at a pace that somehow manages to be both too fast and two slow as the events of the novel only occur over two days. While the plot promises to be full of thrills and excitement and hold the potential for some deliciously complex and layered work, the overall novel is rather simple. Things seem to happen spontaneously, rarely given much explaination and often forgotten completely a few chapters down giving the story and unfinished, and unsatisfying feeling that remains with you to the last page.
The character's lack development and have meager personalities that help further the plot, but the entire thing remains rather inconsistent and lacking finesse. Take our unlikely heroine who flits from distraught and bereaved love as she mourns her boyfriend's death to getting into fits of jealousy with the hunk of her local wolf-pack to mooning over sexy vampires all the while trying to save the world from destruction, fighting her imminent transformation, and trying to keep all of this from the people she cares for.
All in all a work that seems to try too hard to thrill you when it would be better off slowly building up tension.
