1969 album of early King Crimson-like jazzy progressive rock/pop from a UK band that actually included King Crimson member Mel Collins & songwriter Phillip Goodhand-Tait.

Circus - self-titled (Castle Music),

This review is from: Circus (Reis) (Audio CD)
Originally released in 1969, as this looks to be the progressive / jazz band's sole record. However, they might have one - possibly two compilation titles out as well. Liked the Circus Cd reissue more than I thought I would. Tunes that did it for me were their well-done Beatles cover of "Norwegian Wood", "St. Thomas", "Goodnight John Morgan", "II BS" and their beautiful job they do on their Mamas & Papas cover "Monday Monday" (almost better than the original). Line-up: Ian Jelfs - guitar & vocals, Kirk Riddle - guitar & bass, Mel Collins (King Crimson, Stray Dog, Camel, Bad Company) - flute & tenor sax and Chris Burrows - drums. Should appeal to fans of King Crimson, Jethro Tull, Hatfield & The North and Caravan.
