While some will quibble with the visual design of Cirque du Soleil (a mutant hybrid of a Renaissance harlequinade and the Vegas excess of Liberace or Siegfried and Roy), there's no arguing about the physical prowess of the performers; the acrobatic feats are simply astonishing. Cirque du Soleil: Cirque Reinvente (We Reinvent the Circus) features dazzling dexterity on tightropes, trapezes, bicycles, and the bodies of other performers; impeccable clowning; and a contortionist of truly inhuman flexibility who can walk upside down on her hands and knees in an uncannily spiderlike fashion. Though Cirque du Soleil's spectacle is best experienced live, these particular pieces translate surprisingly well to video. --Bret Fetzer

Direct contrast to the previous one- it's not a "freak show". Cirque had to start somewhere, and Cirque Reinvente is it. At the time, Cirque du Soleil was considered daring and avant-garde, even though Reinvente has fallen by the wayside of newer Cirques such as Dralion, Quidam, and O. The comedic acts are still there, and these are some of the funniest moments ever recorded. Have *you* ever tried to direct the 1812 Overture while your feet are strapped to a small trampoline?

This show is fascinating because it's ODD, amazing because the performers perform the impossible, and amusing even for the resistant and grouchy. The acrobats are supremely awesome in strength, flexibility, and balance, which are demonstrated perfectly with ingenious choreography. I was completely satisfied with my purchase of this video, and will continue to watch it time and time again.

Though this video may lack the excitement of the Cirque du Soleil shows of today, it is still Cirque du Soleil. Every cirque show is different. That is how they continue to amaze spectators. If a person who has never heard of Cirque du Soleil were to see this video, he or she would definately be amazed.
