Cirque Du Freak,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Cirque du Freak Boxed Set 1: A Living Nightmare / The Vampire's Assistant / Tunnels of Blood / Vampire (Paperback)
Do you ever hear noises when you lay quietly in your bed at night, and when you ask your parents what it was they say it's the house settling. Well, if you're a true believer you'll know it's the series of Cirque Du Freak coming to life.
These books are about a young boy named Darren who makes a mistake that doesn't get him grounded, but dead. Well, undead technically. He was bitten by a vampire and is cursed to wonder the night, while being a vampire assistant. He is a half vampire himself and must follow the lead of his master, Mr. Crepsley, as they feed on the blood of our family and friends. They must worry of the sun and their evil vampeneze cousins who broke away from them hundreds of years ago. Darren and Mr.Crepsley will clash with vicious werewolves, travel through dim murky sewers, and climb treacherous mountains, which are infested with abnormal beings. Friendship, grief, and anguish are all heaved into these books. However, in the end only Darren will be able to decide his fate, human, or vampire. These books are recommended to all the children of the night, and it is guaranteed that Darren Shawn will have you on the edge of your coffin and wearing a scarf by the end of this bloodthirsty series. So readers beware, because you're in for a scare.

Cirque Du Freak Box 1,
By Judy (U.S.A) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Cirque du Freak Boxed Set 1: A Living Nightmare / The Vampire's Assistant / Tunnels of Blood / Vampire (Paperback)
If you're curious how many books there are in this box set, there are 4 in total. I was trying to figure out myself, since the Box 2's description didn't really make sense to me.
Well, the books aren't the sizes you think you would get it. It is not the paperbacks that you can buy individually in store, but in fact, all of them have different covers. These paperbacks edition's covers aren't as pretty as the paperbacks/harcovers version. The front cover of each books can be see on the front cover of the box set. It is shown above. The books seems to be a little smaller than the regular paperbacks. Maybe about 6 inches tall and maybe 4 inches across. Not sure since I am estimating by the look of it. You are getting books 1: A living nightmare, book 2: the vampire's assistant, book 3: tunnel of blood, and book 4: vampire mountain. I haven't open the books and I don't think I will ever will since I am buying it just for the collections. I already have the hardcovers, so I don't really need to. It was smaller than what I expected......

Marvelous read,

This review is from: Cirque du Freak Boxed Set 1: A Living Nightmare / The Vampire's Assistant / Tunnels of Blood / Vampire (Paperback)
I read these back in high school... well, up to book seven, I think. Anyway, I forgot all about them after graduation... but recently, I've been going back to the young adult novels I read from way back when.
I have to say, I do plan on buying this set. I love the characters, and the plot twists, and the story in general. I really do recommend this series!

Great Book No Matter The AGE!,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Cirque du Freak Boxed Set 1: A Living Nightmare / The Vampire's Assistant / Tunnels of Blood / Vampire (Paperback)
I read them when i was only 12-13 and enjoyed them. Obviously not all of em but i read the first two or three when i was young. Then read them all last year and i have to say i enjoyed every minute. It's not the most depth books but there very enjoyable.
This set is only 25 bucks and you get three great books. Only problem is there to short. I love how the book starts off right away with some crazy ideas. Then book two is a great, even heartbroken, ending. Then you have book 3 and 4 which you must read together since there so good and must be read. Then when your done with book 4 ya'll want book 5. So lets go to that set of books!

Great teen reading.,
This review is from: Cirque du Freak Boxed Set 1: A Living Nightmare / The Vampire's Assistant / Tunnels of Blood / Vampire (Paperback)
My thirteen year old son loves these books. He is already on the 3rd and only had them a short amount of time. He is not a reader at all. I was really happy that he found books he would read and is interested in.

Darren Shan (the author and main charater) is amazing!
Not only do I love the entire Cirque Du Freak series, but the other series he is currently writing, Demonata, as well! These books catch your intrest immediately. They are full of twists! I've read the series more than once and I never get sick of it. The aren't only for younger people, many of my family members have read them and they all love them just as much as I do.

Freak Show,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Cirque du Freak Boxed Set 1: A Living Nightmare / The Vampire's Assistant / Tunnels of Blood / Vampire (Paperback)
This book is a great one to read if you like freaks at a circus. There are a lot of weird but incredible things in this book like the Snake Boy or Madam Octa or even Gertha Teeth. The Snake Boy has scales all over his body and even slithers like a snake. Madam Octa is a red, green and purple spider and in one bite she can kill a human. But the weirdest thing was that she was trained to obey a special flute. When Mr. Crepsley blew a certain tune she would do some incredible trick. Gertha Teeth was even better; she could bite anything. One time she bit a bunch of holes in a big radiator. She picked three volunteers to show how strong her teeth were. One guy had a sledgehammer and a chisel. The second guy had a hammer and a chisel. The third guy had a saw.
Even though this book is very good it probably needs to be read from fourth and up. It may even be a little scary for fourth graders because of the vampire and the Wolf-man. To find out what happens you have got to read this book

Imaginative Series,
This review is from: Cirque du Freak Boxed Set 1: A Living Nightmare / The Vampire's Assistant / Tunnels of Blood / Vampire (Paperback)
This is a fantastic series. Far more imaginative than a lot of the vampire stuff out there. I love the books but was disappointed with the film. My favorite books were the ones in vampire mountain.Definitely a series I would recommend.

I thoroughly enjoyed all 12 books in this series. They were well written and sufficiently gory to hold your attention without nausia. My granddaughter urged me to read the series since she loved it so in Middle school. Is a good read for young and old!!
