The information in the book is extremely useful,

I was very exited to purchase this book, however, I became quit disappointed after I thumbed through the pages and realized that it was the same information found on their website. I am returning the book and leaving Cisco an email to express my disappointment.

Not CCIE stuff,

An O.K book for starters and who want to get to know a bit about N/W design. But, it's too non-technical to be of any use to designers. Definitely, not CCIE level. Not worth buying if you can get same info from cisco web-site

The book is a great reference, reads very well and has a lot of useful information. BUT, all the chapters, case studies, and appendices are available from Cisco's website under their support and documentation subject area. Of course I put 2 and 2 together AFTER I bought the book.

This book is online. Don't waste your money. If you don't have a CCO account I would suggest getting it. This has good configuration examples.

Canned Straight From CCO - But Nice to Have in Book Format,

This review is from: Cisco CCIE Fundamentals: Network Design & Case Studies (Textbook Binding)
This stuff comes straight from Cisco Connection Online - with a few added wrinkles.. It is nice to have it in compact form, espescailly for those who hate reading from a screen. Still, not as good a Sam Halabi's book, "Internet Routing Architectures" in terms of depth of content.

*Great* CCIE exam prep - but not a configuration guide!,

This books is probably the best guide to designing networks with Cisco products that I've seen... and very important to someone preparing for the CCIE exam. Where R. Giles' "Cisco CCIE Study Guide" is geared toward preparation for the written exam, this book focuses more on the Cisco practicals needed for the lab exam. The case studies, especially, provide insights into the kinds of scenarios one might see during the lab test. My only complaint is that some of the included configuration examples have incorrect command syntax. The only way to tell, however, is to try it in a lab, or refer back to the Cisco documentation. As painful as that can be, it's also good practice for the lab exam!

Essential desk reference for any network engineer,

I picked up this book at 1:00, and by 3:00 had copies of it for all the network engineers in our staff. Without a doubt, the best design and implementation guide (checklists for everything) I've seen on routing and switching technology. Very strong chapters relating to SNA, ATM, and multimedia integration. If you maintain or design networks with with Cisco routers, you need this book.

not so good as most people's review,
This review is from: Cisco CCIE Fundamentals: Network Design & Case Studies (Textbook Binding)
in fact, it just explains more deeperly than the ccnp routing book and don't get the step that expounds the routing protocols throughout.with all other cisco books , they are only technologies guide. |
