Major Disappointment,

This review is from: Cisco-Linksys Wireless-N Home Audio Music Player with Integrated Amp with IR Remote (Electronics)
I ordered a complete Linksys system including the dual N Band wireless router to make sure I had the best wireless connection and bandwidth. The router worked fine. I spent three whole days trying to get the director/conductor to work. They wouldn't. I spent over 9 hours with three different tech support people at Linksys and still couldn't get it to work. It has been THE most frustrating experience with consumer electronics I've ever had and I've had some doozies.
Bottom line - I sent them back. Bought a Sonos system. It took 15 minutes to set up. It'w worked flawlessly. I'm using my iTouch to control it and it works better than ths Cisco controller and costs the same. Obviously others have had a better experience, but if you look on AVS forum you'll find a lot of others had the same issues I did. good luck

For a while I was looking for a way to stream all my music through the house and also have access to international radio stations without having to use my laptop to listen to them. This is a wonderful alternative to the Sonos Audio System. It is less expensive compared to Sonos, very easy to install, and I didn't even need the ipod accesory since I have my itunes library on my time capsule and the Linksys director was able to read it and access my tunes. Just make sure to install the cd first and follow the instructions exactly because I tried to skip a step configuring it wirelessly and I wasn't able to. RadioTime is awesome!
Also make sure you get the kit (with speakers) otherwise the director alone won't do it unless you have other speakers around the house that you can connect to the standard output cables.

This review is from: Cisco-Linksys Wireless-N Home Audio Music Player with Integrated Amp with IR Remote (Electronics)
I bought this device part of the Linksys Audio system because it uses standard wireless technology IEEE 802.11n-2009 and also supports g. It small size, and it is less expensive than the other systems that I researched.
The Linksys DMC 250 came with a CD to setup the device a program Linksys EasyLink Advisor got installed, and after connecting the device to the net, this program did not detect the device, after a half hour of trying... did not work. I called Linksys customer service 18665097452 and a very helpful person guided me to determine the problem. The main thing is that the program Linksys EasyLink Advisor does not work on this part. The customer support person indicated to download a DMC250 installer from: [...] This program did the trick and detect the device. (the file downloaded is an .iso file, cd image, so you need rar or other extractor that handles .iso files). To connect to the wireless net you have to pay attention to the installer, it is not obvious... but the program has to ask you for the Wireless net to connect, if you don't get to this part, you missed. In term of sound is good in general, but so far it has some "sound spikes" that I don't know yet where they are coming from... maybe a lose cable? I'll have to check what ... RadioTime service is nice as a free service with a great number of good stations... I don't know yet how could I stream directly from my PC internet radio to the Director...
