I purchased this through Cisco. It was a refurbished unit for around $83.00. It works wirelessly to my Airport Extreme router. At home, where it is in use, I can view the camera on the web. I've looked at buying some more of the new models and it seems all of them, including this one, go off line every once in a while. Not constantly, but definitely after a long power outage of a day or two. You then need to reinsert the CD and reboot the camera. Not too big a deal.
I decided to write this review because I came across an iPad / iPhone App called uNet Cam. Its expensive, but works and will allow multiple cameras to be viewed live simultaneously on your device. uCam is a less expensive App from the same developer, but I think it only allows one camera.
I wouldn't have recommended this camera as Linksys is not Mac based, its PC only and relies mainly on Internet Explorer, but these Apps changed it all.
As far as the WVC80N:
Good clear color monitoring. +/- 100 feet for me inside window pointing outside.
Sound.
Works in low light. Not dark.
Blue functioning diode is great as it shows it is working and acts as a deterrent.
Fairly simple set up. Very simple walk through on the CD. The CD software runs and loads on a Mac too.
Works on multiple web browsers.
Customizable functions.
Downloads to an FTP server. Huge help for me.
Motion sensitive, with alerts. I.E. email...
I like the design and the directional stand works very well.
Wish it came with a longer power cord.
Works fairly far from my router wirelessly.
Not sure if I will buy another one of these or a completely different camera. The Logitech Alert 750e Outdoor Master System is something I'm very interested in, but I don't think its Mac either. It also does not work with the iPhone/iPad Apps I mentioned above. They have indoor cams too, but I don't like the design. I'm pretty happy with this now. Thank you App developers!
