Compatible will all my home network devices in all speeds; my PC, NAS, 2 types of NMT & WiFi Router.
Does the job as it is supposed to without any issues. I have a mixed network with 100M and 1G devices. All the different devices are working at their rated network speed without dropping the speed to the lowest one supported. The switch doesn't feel warm to the touch indicating it is not using a lot of power. The manufacturer commented on this review(What's this?) Posted on

I took a chance with this product because I have had bad experiences with SOHO desktop switches such as those from D-Link, Linksys and the likes because once in awhile they seem to require a reboot as if they weren't designed to run 24/7 or can't handle too much traffic. So far, I have had this about a month and I've put Terabytes through this and haven't had any hiccup yet. Solid built and on top of that, it's very energy efficient. I used the Kill-A-Watt product and this device was toggling between 0 and 1 watt usage. That's just incredible.

Its plug and play like it stated. I have been streaming and moving HD movies from HTPC, PCs, and extenders lickity split.

Great high speed switch for long cable runs,

I'm in the production industry and at some of the big festivals I work at, we need to run very long ethernet cables. Often times these runs are longer than the 330' Cat5e (or Cat6) limit.
I've used many switches and found that they could not handle the length of the cable - often times I had packet loss or slow connection speeds. This switch was the solution to my problem. I'll be buying more of these to replace all of the old ones we've got for shows. I have used one between 2 300' cable runs, as well as just one on the end of one 300' cable run. This switch handles it like its nothing. I have put it into a stronger aluminum enclosure (in the production world, things get thrown around a lot), but I do still feel that it is sturdy enough to not need it under normal circumstances. Overall, this is a great switch and I highly recommend it. The manufacturer commented on this review(What's this?) Posted on

Works well on my Apple home network,

I have this unit downstream from a 2011 Apple Airport Extreme which takes the signal from a Comcast cable modem. The Apple unit provides the household wireless service and also supplies a wired PS3 and wired Apple TV2 on two of its three ethernet ports; the third one goes to this box. My newer Macs and a printer are plugged directly into the Cisco box, but an old Mac and an AT&T Microcell, both located in a hard-to-wire room, are connected to it via a 10/100 Netgear FS105NA Switch 5Port Metal which you can get here on Amazon for $20.
Setup was entirely plug-and-play - no configuration, DIP switches, software, etc. - except that the Netgear box had to be rebooted. Wifi is running at 450 Megabits/sec. The wired network transferred a 2-gig file in one minute, which I think is about 520 megabits/sec. Not a gig/sec, but still plenty fast enough to pull up and play an HD movie from another computer, and skip around it with fast forward and back, all as snappy as can be with no hiccups or delays, which is what I was seeking, so I"m a happy customer. My wiring is 5-year-old Home Depot Cat5.

Let me cut to the chase - don't waste time with anything but a Cisco if you're interested in performance. Seriously, spend the extra dollars and be happy you did, when your files get transferred across at speeds close to the theoretical maximum (125 MB/s).I tried a few other brands hoping that people have raised their games. I tried Belkin, TRENDnet, HP, Linksys (yes, I know it's Cisco), and a few others. A waste of time. With this Cisco bad boy, I get close to 100MB/s copying files from Unix filesystems to other Unix filesystems. My Mac comes close to that too. My Windows machines even get between 60-80 MB/s depending on the file type. I have to deduct a star for the cost, and for the fact that it does not have 10-100-1000 indicator lights. But I can live with that!

This switch is truly "Plug 'n Play". I bought two Cisco switches and work them in series. There was nothing to do but hook them up as directed and put them to work.

I read all the other reviews on this specific switch and it is truly just 'plug and play' Used a one foot CAT 6 cable to connect this to my router and that's all that need to be done. All other devices would plug into the remaining 7 ports in the back of this unit and communicate through the cable connecting this to your router. Can't get any more simple than this for adding more ports to your home network for wired connections. Would definatly recommend to others.
