A Powerful Foundation for the Small Business Network

Cisco 300 Series Switches provide the right features at the right price, along with the reliability, performance, and investment protection you expect from a Cisco switch. You can rest assured that your network has been rigorously tested to deliver business-class availability and performance at an affordable price and is backed by a limited lifetime warranty and the Cisco Small Business Support Center. You can also be confident that your network will grow with your business. The Cisco 300 Series was designed to integrate future networking and communication deployments, and is fully compatible with the complete Cisco Small Business portfolio.

Right Features at the Right Price

Cisco 300 Series Switches offer enhanced switch features that support advanced technologies, including quality of service (QoS) intelligence and advanced traffic management to simplify the addition of voice, wireless, and security services. These advanced managed switching features give you a variety of capabilities for controlling traffic over your network and help keep your applications running at peak performance, in a solution designed and priced for small businesses.

Boost business communications with IP telephony, wireless, and other advanced deployments using Power over Ethernet (PoE) connectivity, QoS, and virtual LANs to segment network traffic. Turn up powerful security measures such as access control lists (ACLs) and guest virtual LANs (VLANs) to provide rich services to users while protecting applications and information. Meet tomorrow's networking needs as well as today's with advanced features like static routing and IPv6 support, which let you enable the latest generation of networking applications and operating systems without an extensive equipment upgrade.

Lower Energy Costs

Reduce power consumption by using these switches. Designed to optimize power usage, the switches offer energy efficiency without compromising performance by powering down ports when not in use. Choose from models that have no fans, so they run silently and unobtrusively, even as they reduce energy costs.

Simplify Setup and Management

Cisco 300 Series Switches are designed to be easy to configure and manage. They make it easy to set up and manage even complex network environments, reducing the time your staff devotes to network management and troubleshooting. Speed setup with an intuitive, web-based interface that simplifies security, QoS traffic prioritization, and configuration and management.

Speed setup with easy-to-use tools such as Cisco Discovery Protocol, the Cisco FindIT Network Discovery Utility (a free browser plug-in tool that automatically discovers switches, provides key information about the product, and launches directly into the Web UI), and Cisco Smartports, which let your network automatically detect and configure all connected Cisco devices. A CLI and menu-based CLI is also available for customers who prefer text configuration.

Intelligent features simplify voice deployments. The switches support dynamic and automatic creation of voice VLAN and QoS parameters on switches in the network, auto-configuration of ports based on the connected endpoints, instructing the endpoints on correct settings to use, and applying appropriate settings to voice endpoints to help ensure high fidelity of voice traffic.

Protect your investment with a solution that has been designed and tested to easily integrate with other Cisco networking and communications products, including the complete Cisco Small Business portfolio.

I have purchased 10-15 of these so far and they have worked perfectly every time. I am using these for IP security cameras and they fit what I needed perfectly. The managed interface is nice to see whats going on if I have a camera go offline I can remotely power cycle the camera and such saving me a lot of time. Plenty of power for all the IP cameras I have ever personally used, though there is version that ends in MP (max power) for anyone who needs more power from the POE ports.

I have several running all eight ports with cameras on them and have never had an issue. Firmware is nice, and you can have a backup image of the firmware so you have a fallback if you decide to tweak something and do something wrong. Never had to use it but it is nice that it's there. Some of my switches are in locations with no heat or cooling and so far so good over a year or so of use. My only wish was that it used a normal PC style power cord and not a power brick, but I'll survive that I guess.

EDIT - I can not recommend these switches any more and wanted to update this review to reflect what I've experienced. At this time I've now have 6 of these fail completely and need replacement. I have one in my office now, and another coming back today. One has only lost one port, the one coming back today has no power at all any longer. This has been the same issues with all that have failed, either no power or bad ports. Replacement units from Cisco have arrived next day, and that is great, but it would be even better to not have to mess with a replacement at all!

A secondary problem comes from the switch having to be power cycled to get a single camera back up. A camera will quit, it will work for hours or days, then drop.

High POE Failure rate... Have a small volume of these switches at two locations comprising a small business LAN supporting VOIP phones power by the POE (Power over Ethernet) ports... 7-10 switches ... have high failure rates of the POE ports, hence have to replace the switch to get the network phones back online... had 4-6 failures of these units over a 5 year period. Currently in the market to replace these switched with a better reliable POE managed switch...

These switches are good except for one big problem that affected one of our installations. Cisco acknowledged the bug, but won't work on it any further without us doing a bunch more work on their behalf. We decided that we'll just use another brand of switches.

The bug shows up if you try to use the auto voice VLAN feature with phones that don't do CDP. The LLDP option has a bug where the phones will fall off the network after a short time. The work-around requires manually configuring the phones and the switch.

If you do not need LLDP with auto voice VLAN, then they are simply great. The UI is very clear and easy to use. They are reliable and stable with great performance. I haven't found anything else with this price/performance ratio.

Purchased for use with Cisco SPA 500-series IP phones + UC320. They work together very nicely with minimal effort needed to configure the switch - the auto-discovery set up a separate VLAN for voice, the phones and UC320 just work without drama. It's obviously more expensive than an unmanaged switch - but if you are building a Cisco VoIP system, it's a big savings of time/hassle.

I work for a telephone company that installs SIP telephones and this is my go to line is switches. I use the 24 port more often but they have both proven to be ultra reliable and a cinch to configure.

We purchased this to power our VoIP phones. It was easy for our VoIP provider to remotely provision and works as advertised.
