The switch uses LEDs to give you an instant update regarding the status of your connections. |
Two mini-GBIC ports allow you to connect this switch to others using fiber-optic links. |
No Management Needed
A true drop-and-go device, the switch works completely out of the box with no complicated configuration steps or settings required prior to installation. Whether you’re using the SR2024 as a satellite connector of your network or replacing the core of your infrastructure with true gigabit networking, the device automatically detects the cables you’re plugging into it—no need to root through the bin for specific crossover cables to interconnect your network devices.
Cisco's SR2024 24-port 10/100/1000 Gigabit Switch gives you the ability to transform your exiting network into one that's equipped with top-of-the-line gigabit speeds. |
Extended Capabilities
The switch future-proofs your possibilities for network expansion through its inclusion of two mini Gigabit Interface Converter ports (mini-GBIC), which allow you to add fiber-optic connectivity for connecting to other network switches easily and cost-effectively.
Reliable Performance
Other features on the switch include independent port negotiation, which selects and optimizes a half-duplex or full-duplex connection to achieve the best speeds for each attached device. Address learning and aging, as well as built-in 802.3x flow control with head-of-line blocking prevention, floats your high-priority traffic above common network use to ensure uninterrupted service quality. An included MAC address learning engine reduces network clutter by directing traffic precisely where you want it to go instead of unnecessarily broadcasting data to all connected devices.
The SR2024 is designed with industry-standard specifications in mind. As such, it works with nearly all networkable devices to deliver high-performance functionality for your high-bandwidth needs. The switch’s rack-mount form integrates smoothly into your existing server architecture. Flick the switch, connect your network devices, and you’ll be up-and-running with a brand-new, high-speed network within minutes. It’s that easy.
Why Gigabit Connectivity?
As you more add more applications and devices to your network, you need an easy to use, reliable switch that can alleviate bottlenecks and help prevent network downtime. Your employees need the ability to communicate with each other and with customers and to share printers and access business files. Dealing with a sluggish or unavailable network decreases productivity and slows down business. Let the Cisco SR2024 kick your network in to high gear.

Check out those dimensions! BIG!. It has a fan too and they haven't taken any lessons from Steve Jobs about making the fan quiet so it better be in an enclosed, insulated space if you are putting this in your home or small office.
Other than that it is great and a real performer (switches at wire speed) p.s. I wish I could change my vote to 2 stars. Although they answered the support line quickly, I was told that the noise of this product is as designed and it really isn't intended for a small office, but rather should live in an already noisy data center where it can just add to the din. I am going to return mine and find another brand that actually wants it's equipment to be used in a small office. Sigh... The manufacturer commented on this review(What's this?) Posted on

NOISY - VERY Noisy,
This review is from: Cisco SR2024 24-port 10/100/1000 Gigabit Switch (Personal Computers)
I placed this switch in an isolated central wiring closet that has other network equipment, some with fans and disk drives. There has never been any sound audible outside the wiring closet.
This switch sounds like a vacuum cleaner, and is clearly audible and objectionable in every room that abuts the closet. The switch seems to function OK but the noise is so loud that I regret the purchase. Unless you can mount this switch were noise is already very loud, or where noise will not bother anyone, I'd recommend you look elsewhere. The manufacturer commented on this review(What's this?) Don't Buy It,

This review is from: Cisco SR2024 24-port 10/100/1000 Gigabit Switch (Personal Computers)
I bought this switch about 18 months ago. It went out 6 months ago. They have a lifetime warranty, and they replaced it. However, the one they replaced it with had something rattling around inside it when I got it. I sent it back and got another. Then, it failed. They would not cross ship a new one to me. In other words, they wanted me to disconnect the existing switch, send it back to them, and have them ship the new one to me 5-7 days later. So what do I do for work for the week and a half while I wait for the new one? They said they would expedite and cross ship if I paid a charge of $74.99! I asked them how I was supposed to work for a week and a half while I waited. The tech said, "Well, you could buy another switch in the meantime." What?!? I replied, "Yes, maybe I'll buy a switch that doesn't break down every 6 months!" Don't buy it!
