24 Gigabit Ethernet ports on the front of the switch deliver the connectivity and stability that your small business needs demand. |
The Cisco SG 100-24 24-Port Gigabit Switch avoids complicated installation procedures or technical configurations: It simply works. |
Energy-Conscious Operation
A built-in energy-saving feature allows the switch to reduce your power consumption and related costs without any configuration from an end-user. The switch will automatically enter sleep mode when necessary, turning off unused ports and automatically adjusting its internal power capacity to deliver full support for your connected devices when they need it–and making sure that resources aren’t wasted when they don’t.
Quality-of-Service controls ensure that your business's critical network traffic runs high-priority overtop your normal network operations. |
Automatic Adjustments
The switch also comes provisioned for auto-switching Ethernet capability. This allows the Cisco SG 100-24 24-Port Gigabit Switch to automatically sense the speeds of connected network devices and deliver the appropriate connection speed depending on the compatibility needs of legacy products. Similarly, automated MDI and MDI-X cable detection eliminates the need for crossover cables when using the switch. Installations run smoother when integrating the switch into an older network architecture that relies on a mix of uplink ports and regular hubs to make the connections between devices; you can use either standard, straight-through Ethernet cables or crossover cabling to connect devices to the switch.
Rackmount Installation and Visual Troubleshooting
If your small business is already set up with a server rack environment, the Cisco SG 100-24 24-Port Gigabit Switch will fit directly into your existing infrastructure via an included rackmount kit. Lights on the front of the switch correspond to the network status of its 24 ports. This lets you make a quick visual analysis of your network activity, affording you the opportunity to assess situations that might need troubleshooting. If a device suddenly drops offline or a segment of systems suffers a sudden outage, you’ll be able to isolate the issue simply by looking at the front of the switch. The device also comes with a limited lifetime warranty that gives you peace-of-mind assurance and helps prevent costly downtime for your business’s key operations.

This review is from: Cisco SR2024T 24 port 10/100/1000 Gigabit Switch (Personal Computers)
I recently upgraded my home network from 100 Mbps to 1 Gbps ethernet. My network is rather large and has a large number of AV devices on it as well as computers, servers, and several video game consoles. I use Crestron throughout my house to control A/V, HVAC, and other things which can be network intensive. Prior to installing this switch my installers tried to go with a lower budget option. We had several issues and device lockups. Fortunately, I was able to quickly ascertain that our "low budget" switch was the issue. I ordered this switch from Amazon and swapped it in and have had absolutely NO problems since even under very heavy load. It makes absolutely NO sense to buy a cheap switch unless you do not value your system integrity or your time. I absolutely recommend this product and am very happy with it.

i got this switch for a small office i am setting up. in this gigabit era, it makes sense to spend a little more for a gigabit switch. files are only going to get bigger, so you need something that can keep up. the price wasn't bad at all...imo. the switch works fine....did a few tests with it and all ports are working at gigabit speeds. will buy again if i see the need to...or the upgraded version...if one exists.

I took a gamble on this (with no reviews) on name brand alone. I needed a switch for my home network (I have a tap in every room) and I was going to move all of my computer gear to the basement in a 2 post rack to save space. I previously had a TrendNet 16 port switch and I HATED it because of the unbearable fan noise. This unit is the polar opposite - it has NO FAN! Doesn't seem to get more than warm even with out one. Despite it being a bit more than other competing switches, the lack of fans makes this a winner in my book!
