Cisco SRW2008P 8-port Gigabit Switch with PoE provides wire-speed Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, Power over Ethernet (PoE), quality of service, and ease of use to support your small business network. The 8 10/100/1000 Mbps ports enable you to take advantage of Gigabit Ethernet interfaces shipping in current generations of servers, workstations, and storage devices. It includes two combination (combo) Gigabit Interface Converter (mini-GBIC) slots for either fiber or copper Gigabit Ethernet expansion to connect switches between floors or buildings. There's more to the SRW2008 than speed, it also keeps your network secure. No attached device can receive information before it authenticates with the switch, and access levels can be customized in a number of ways. Security is a priority on the SRW2008P. The switch includes support for IEEE 802.1X port authentication and access control lists (ACLs). These security features restrict access to sensitive portions of the network and guard against attacks by keeping unauthorized users off the network. It also supports virtual LANs (VLANs) to segment traffic and workgroups and MAC address notification features to allow tracking of where and when users enter the network. The SRW2008P includes Private VLAN Edge (PVE) to further segment the network to provide guests network access or to create autonomous networks. At the same time, the enhanced quality of service (QoS) and traffic management features help ensure clear and reliable voice and video communications.

Power Network Attached Devices The Cisco SRW2008P supports the IEEE 802.3af standard for PoE. It offers four ports at 15.4W per port (or eight ports at 7.7W). All ports have automatic load sensing circuitry that automatically detects PoE on the end device before providing power. The ports also feature independent overload and short-circuit protection, along with LED indicators for power status. PoE powers network attached devices such as IP phones, wireless access points, video cameras, and other devices directly over the Ethernet connection, without an external power supply, simplifying deployment and eliminating the need and cost of installing separate power supplies for connected endpoints.
