Imagination and creativity at best.

Everybody who visits-no matter the age-ends up building structures with them-ships, towers as tall as my grandson, etc.

I've tried the Keva blocks at museums that had them on display, and these seem to be almost exactly the same.

We were first introduced to this item at a museum in uptown Charlotte. They were made by a company called Kapla, however, Kapla blocs cost twice (if not triple) the amount I paid for citiblocs. The entire family has enjoyed these blocs and it helps keeping the brain active and creative for all. I even had a group of middle school boys over and they chose to play with these for over 2 hours which beat the amount of time they played the PS3, IPod touch, and Nintendo DSi altogether. We purchased 4 200piece sets for a total of 800 so that everyone could participate at once to build and play. The only thing I would do now is purchase a set of color blocs as well. These blocs look and feel the same as the ones in the museum. I see no difference. Great product.

I knew about Kapla blocks from the children's museum and wanted some for home, got seduced by the price of the citiblocs along with all the great reviews. I had high hopes for the blocks, but I have to say that I am very disappointed with the quality. First the accuracy is off, the length of the blocks does not match an integer number of widths which makes many of the designs unstable. In addition to this universal problem with the citiblocs, many of the blocks are warped, or twisted, or non-uniform thickness. To make large complex structures stable, you really need to sort the blocks which is not really a workable solution unless you toss the faulty blocks which kind of negates the price advantage. Made from a light pine, hard to imagine how these could not warp especially with humidity changes. I guess the Kapla "Marine pine" is more stable. I have not tried the Keva Maple blocks, but I would certainly expect the maple to be more stable than then light pine.

These blocks are so much fun for a wide age range and I'm glad we bought them, but just a warning before you buy, that if you have a little perfectionist who is still working on fine motor skills, these blocks will drive them insane. I had to put them up after playing with them for just a day because my 5 year old perfectionist kept losing his temper as he tipped over his creations. I'll wait until he's more able to build successfully before bringing them out again.

I actually searched these out after my HUSBAND played with them at a museum. He had suggested getting them for our son as we all enjoyed building with them, but I am thinking I know who will end up playing with them more, lol. I am actually hoping 200 will be enough, but I guess we will find out Christmas morning. There may be more citibloc purchases for us in the near future.

I bought this kit for my 3 year old and am very happy with the purchase. There are so many fun things to build with these blocs. I like the fact that there is no one particular way to use this set. Imagination and creativity at best. It has helped my son in building fine motor skills as he has to hold and place the blocks with precision and at angles. The only reason I gave this 4 stars is that a couple of blocs in my package have chipped edges :(

I gave it a 5 star for one simple reason. IT KEEPS MY KIDS OCCUPIED!!!
They spend 4 hours a day building the sets on the book and when that came to be a thing for the past they started to build their own town. Now they own a 1200 block city and it looks awesome. It has been over 4 months and they prefer the blocks over their ipad. Who knew!!

Great product. It will keep kids occupied for a very long time. At first it requires patience and good hand coordination but once they had that down it was great to see them focus on something other then an lcd screen.

This is probably the first toy that both the kids and I could sit around and play with for hours on end. On a recent visit to the Lawrence Hall of Science, we stopped in a room where they had thousands of these blocks laying around. I didn't think much of these blocks until I started building with them. These blocks are incredibly stable - it's really easy to start building with them. My three year old son was able to stack the blocks up by himself to a good height. It's too big for my two year old daughter to choke on (should she put it in her mouth), and because every single block is the same, there was *no arguing* between all the kids there. None. I was shocked to see the two year old kids playing together with the 10 year old kids here without any arguments going on...parents were even having fun building with these blocks using pictures provided by the museum. The best part about these blocks - if you lose one, it's no big deal...you'll have 199 of the same blocks to play with!!! No having to find specific replacement pieces = best bonus ever, in my book.

These blocks are awesome - I'm planning on picking up a box for me...I mean, the kids...to play with! Highly recommended!

it's simple, wood blocks. Purchased these as gift for a three year old. He may be on the young side, but we both enjoy this more than lincoln logs - much more versatile. He hasn't pulled them out to play with on his own yet, but it's been a good activity for us to do together and I suspect as he gets older he'll enjoy using these alone too.
