5.0 out of 5 stars An imaginitive and hypnotic sequel as good as their first
It moves in moods, effortlessly shifting from a driving bass to a melancholy sitar, violins rising and falling in time with beats that are a masterful fusion of east and west. 3.0 out of 5 stars Strange Constellations = Vermillion
Listen to "Strange Constellations" and then listen to Album Leaf's "Vermillion" from ONE DAY I'LL BE ON TIME. Curious. Is this is a remix or just a rip-off?

It moves in moods, effortlessly shifting from a driving bass to a melancholy sitar, violins rising and falling in time with beats that are a masterful fusion of east and west. If you've heard Bombay Dub's first album, you probably found it "sleepy" at first, but slowly got drawn in. 3 Cities has its soft side, but for the most part its more energized, more integrated, and more accessable. This isn't to say it's better than their previous album, just different. Both are among the best albums of the downtempo/chillout/mood-driven genres, and both albums don't have a single weak track in their collection. I'm addicted.

5.0 out of 5 stars As good as their first CD, October 24, 2008

I've never written an online review, but I felt compelled to given how much I love Bombay Dub Orchestra's releases to date.

It seems the word "fusion" can be found just about anywhere these days, so I've been hesitant to apply it to the works of these particular artists. However, after listening to 3 cities I must admit that they've managed to take what seems to be two traditionally beautiful genres of music; Western/European Classical & Indian Classical and "fuse" them into something in which the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. It's unfortunate Amazon doesn't have sample clips to play for uncertain buyers. I suppose they'll have to look elsewhere online.

Either way, I really do believe this cd warrants the five stars I've given it. If you liked their self-titled debut, you'll love this. If you've never heard their music, but like classical music from Europe or India; take my word for it and purchase this cd.

Exotic, multi layered Indian/Orchestra, rich, trippy, chilled, one of the most innovative and sensual sound experiences out today. Fantastic! Love it.

I heard "Egypt by Air" on Secret Agent radio (Soma.fm) and immediately went online and bought this album. Several other good tracks as well, and the artists are cool people (they reply to your e-mails :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, just not as good..., June 2, 2010

The first release had more songs (2 disc set) and better musical quality. Don't be deterred though, it's still a good buy. There isn't a song on the new CD that I don't like.

4.0 out of 5 stars Chilled Out Soundtrack, April 15, 2010

3 Cities is a great collection of songs. It sounds like a soundtrack to a Bollywood movie. It combines sounds from a few Hemispheres. No wasted notes, no flailing guitars or runaway drum solos, just perfect for a relaxing afternoon or sunday drive.

5.0 out of 5 stars A tutorial in the language of possibility, February 4, 2009

BDO gives the listener options. One can choose to pay close attention to the music and be entertained by the tight and fluid composition of sounds. Or one can choose to be immersed in the soundscape and allow it to fuel imagination. Quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exotic Music to Relax To, February 6, 2009
This review is from: 3 Cities (Dig) (Audio CD)
I was searching music randomly when I came across this CD. I thought it was a unique name first of all and it definitely is worth to sample. So I sampled most of the songs and I instantly got into it. I ended up buying the CD and now I constantly listen to it to relax. Its a great CD to let your mind get away to an exotic place. I really love this CD and I listen to it constantly now. I also got a couple of my friends into it as well. I think you will be satisfied! It was worth every cent.
