From the Manufacturer

Imagine and conceive cities of all types and sizes. From a megalopolis of several million citizens, to a hyped seaside resort, to an industrial city, everything is allowed in Cities XL 2012. Take advantage of an incredible collection of more than 1000 buildings and structures (over 300 new buildings), and 62 different types of maps (15 new maps) featuring realistic environments. Enjoy never-before-seen freedom in a city-builder, allowing you to create your cities in every detail.

Build Cities, Shape a World

As a virtual mayor, find the right balance between economic development of your cities, attractiveness, transportation (road traffic, bus, metro...), pollution, social services, taxes, and even leisure activities.

Create a proper economic development by setting up trade between cities. You can specialize certain cities in specific areas to fill in the needs of the others. This will ensure large-scale financial success and allow you to develop an increasingly complex network of cities.

Cities XL 2012
It's up to you to maintain a pleasant living environment and even attract new citizens

In Cities XL 2012, 62 maps including 15 new ones bring many challenges in the heart of incredibly varied and detailed scenery: fractured or rugged landscape, landlocked constructible areas, or easy access to natural resources...these challenging conditions and many more await all virtual city-planners.

Photorealistic Cities

Thanks to a high-end graphic engine, Cities XL 2012 offers visuals close to photorealistic quality. Build a true modern empire, then immerse yourself at the city's core to admire each one of your constructions as if you were actually there. Each map, as well as every environment, has received special care to provide an immersive and unique production to the game.

Push Back the Limits

Cross the city limits and manage a network of cities on the entire planet. Cities XL 2012 lets you connect every city that you will build in the game. This will give you a chance to specialize some of your cities and to establish business links to share resources and services.

Cities XL 2012
Specialize some of your cities and establish business links to share resources and services

Cities management is complete thanks to a sophisticated transportation system. Choose the type of transportation you want, create bridges and tunnels, and manage a brand new public transportation network, including buses, and underground and elevated railways. Clever management will surely help decongest downtown traffic while lowering pollution levels and increasing the population's satisfaction.

Know Your Citizens

Thanks to an ultra-realistic representation of the population, citizens show various types of profiles depending on their education, their expectations, and their activities. You will need to take those profiles into account to provide the right services and leisure activities for your citizens. It's also up to you to maintain a pleasant living environment and even attract new citizens.

New Tax System

The tax system will let all virtual mayors, both newbies as well as experienced, adjust the tax level, including individual and local business taxes. In a self sufficient global economy, with fluctuating prices and citizens' needs, the tax management system will enable everyone to refine its city administration.

Trophy System

Finally, Cities XL 2012 also includes a Trophy system. Your progress as mayor includes many various goals to reach regarding your citizens' needs, the buildings and the transportation that you choose, and even the resources that you share. With more than 200 Trophies to unlock, you will need all the management skills you have to obtain numerous rewards, such as new constructions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Game June 7, 2012

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
This is a great game with huge replay value! With so many city landscapes (Deserts, Mountains, Deltas, Plains, etc.) and transportation variation, anyone can essentially design any kind of city they like!

* Huge Replay Value
* Large City Landscape Diversity
* Perfect Music
* Fun

* Higher than Average Specs Required
- Using a computer with minimum will flow smoothly until cities reach 30K-60K people.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not much better than Cities XL 2011 June 18, 2012
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
I was sad to start playing this game and see that they didn't do a whole lot to improve the game. In fact they didn't do much. The publishers of this game are just looking for a quick buck. There are many bugs in this game including several buildings that don't function properly. You have to delete the buildings or you have a city full of abandoned buildings (because there are not a whole lot of building choices and they duplicate a ton.)

To anyone looking for a good city builder I would by Sim City 4 or wait til February of 2013 and buy the new Sim City.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very realistic February 20, 2013

There are some areas of the game that can be confusing but the gameplay itself is very involving. It has to be the most realistic city simulation available.

4.0 out of 5 stars simcity "Digital Deluxe" vs Cities XL May 2, 2013
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
It's like SimCity 1 and 3 but you have to trade and people don't move in/out as fast as SimCity.

You do not connect to another city next door it's like SimCity deluxe/limited but no transportation leading into the city it's like simcity3. You setup RCI like in SimCity 1

The people in Cities XL Platinum and 2011 are very clicky just like in SimCity. God forbid you forget to give them water.

THE REASON I STOPPED PLAYING SIMCITY: The City size was small and too hard to keep people happy and make a profit. SimCity took way too long to load they got me for 79.99 and I would have to sit there for up to 10min. SimCity did just updated (update3 did nothing) today but it is still slow and they have not made their cities any bigger.

Main Difference between SimCity Deluxe/Limited and Cities XL.

Cities XL City sizes are much greater than SimCity ever has been.
Cities XL allows you to make the bus route and metro routes (there's a terminal that you start from, the stops take up no space)
Cities XL I have not been kicked out or had any problems like you will in any SimCity

SimCity has casinos that you can build up then you get Sims mad of crime rate and they move out
SimCity has concert halls and they "attract people" (never helped the casinos) heehehehe
SimCity has way better graphics and drilling for oil, ore and Cole is fun as well.
SimCity sucks because the cities are too small and you cannot please everyone in such a small area
SimCity Downgraded the game and just added better graphics SimCity 3 and 4 had bigger cities not many but a few.
