4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic value - gorgeous timepiece
This is a beautiful watch for a great value. Gorgeous bracelet, and deep blue faceplate. Crystal is nice and flat, reducing glare.
Feedback from chrono buttons nice and solid.

Minor qualms;
Topring does not rotate.
Chronograph only measures down to seconds - not 1/10 or 1/20 sec.

Bottom line - makes a great everyday sport watch, and looks great with any...

2.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful and reliable -- except for the bracelet!
You can read my original review below. Unfortunately, during the past year I have had to replace the pins that attach the watch to the bracelet no fewer than ten times! This is clearly a design flaw. It's too bad, because I love the look of the watch and it works perfectly, but if it won't stay on your wrist, it can't really be called a wristwatch, can it? Stay away from...

I was looking for a watch that I could wear casually anytime and anywhere. I was not into all the complicated and cluttered watches. I also did not want something that looked too young, but at the same time, I didn't want to wear an extremley expensive watch and then be worried about breaking it.

I found everything I wanted in this watch. I recieved it as a gift from my father and have worn it everyday since. The watch is simply gorgeous and well organized. It keeps perfect time and the date is a great reminder too. This watch is fashionable and can be worn running from class to class, spending a day at the office, spending a night out on the town with friends, and even worn to fancy occasions like weddings.

The blue dial is actually a lot darker than in the picture, same can be said about the chain, but it still looks bold and classy. People will think you spent a fortune on this watch by how it looks, but its true value is unbeatable.

Considering you are paying for a Citizen that looks great, can be worn anywhere, and is super affordable, there is no reason to not own this watch. This would also make a great gift to a husband, boyfriend, or anyone who wants a fine looking, multi-purpose watch to add to their collection.

Original review:

This is an excellent all-around watch. Elegant enough for the boardroom or that special evening out, and practical enough to take snorkeling or skiing. The luminous hands and hour markers are bright in the dark and the numbers on the chronograph dials are easy to read. The satin-finish bracelet strikes just the right balance visually and the whole watch feels substantial and well made. As for the price, let me say this: I took the watch to a local watch store to have the bracelet adjusted, because I'm too lazy to buy the tool and do it myself. The owner asked me where I had bought the watch and how much I had paid for it. When I told him, the poor man grimaced! Plus the watch arrived earlier than I expected! A great buy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too big for small wrists, September 4, 2011
This review is from: Citizen Men's AN0950-53L Chronograph Stainless Steel Watch (Watch)
I bought this watch as a gift for my fiance. It is stylish, nicely weighted, and elegant. Unfortunatly the face is big enough, and the band inflexible enough, that for small wrists, there is a large gap between the watch and the arm at the junction between the face and band, making it look and feel clunky. Had to return it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice design - cheaply built, May 22, 2011

This review is from: Citizen Men's AN0950-53L Chronograph Stainless Steel Watch (Watch)
I bought this watch as a cheap look alike to my Tag Heuer for day to day abuse. Indeed it looks very nice and would go through as a much more expensive watch on first sight. The blue color of the face is beautiful, the bezel doesn't turn though. It's a feature I never use anyway. The crown is not screw down. You just push it in. I wonder how water resistant it is going to be long term. The pin, that holds the bracelet is way too weak though. One evening, only about 2 weeks after I got the watch, the whole thing just fell on the floor out of nowhere. I had not even stressed the watch. I read about this weakness in several other reviews and can confirm it. So far I didn't put in a claim, so I'll see how that goes. Overall a very nice, more expensive looking watch with some flaws. At less than $120 it seems okay.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cheap citizen watch, has its flaws, June 15, 2009
This review is from: Citizen Men's AN0950-53L Chronograph Stainless Steel Watch (Watch)
I've owned this watch for about a month now, and it was a gift...that said, I'm giving serious consideration for getting a better Citizen Watch. My main gripe with the watch is that its band is rather "chunky" for lack of a better word to use; most watch bands can be folded over themselves (meaning the band can make very tight bends) - not so with this band. The band is made in such a way that people with smaller wrists such as myself, will suffer. I can find no sizing of the band that fits me - I either get it so lose it slides off my wrist and down my arm, or so tight that it leaves a mark on my wrist.

On top of that, the watch is pretty primitive - the hands don't seem to line up with the markings very well, and the chronograph randomly will stop working.

A main feature I would get a better watch for would also be a perpetual calendar - the calendar on this watch assumes every month has 31 days...so at the end of some months you will need to manually adjust the date, which I find annoying. Before this watch I had a cheap Ironman, but it had a perpetual calendar that I never needed to worry about. For people who rely on their watch for the date, I highly recommend looking at some of the Citizen watches with a perpetual calendar feature.

All in all, this watch looks like a Fossil watch, but has the Citizen name on it. The band scratches easily, but as it is just brushed steel, the scratches won't show up that well, which is a good thing. I've bumped the crystal a few times on hard surfaces, but it hasn't scratched...yet.

The watch face certainly looks good in my opinion - the dial is a nice deep blue.

Late edit: Well, the crystal has scratched finally. A few times. I take the watch off when at my computer so I don't do too much harm to it...and yet there the scratches are. Out of curiosity to see how I did it, I grabbed one of my kitchen knives (hardened steel) and tried to scratch it...no luck (as expected. Quartz Crystal is a higher MOH than steel.)

Also, the band is taking a pretty bad beating...just daily use has left it scratched up quite a bit. Since this is stainless steel and not titanium it doesn't show up that much, but the scratches are there.

4.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful timepiece, March 25, 2008

This watch looks just awesome - the blue is almost cobalt, and the dial itself is very easy to read. So why only four stars? My complaint, as with my other Movado, is that the links in the bracelet are oversized. Taking out one link means the watch is still a bit "dangly" on the wrist, but removing two links results in the watch being too tight, which is even more uncomfortable.
That criticism aside however, I highly recommend this watch. In fact, I highly recommend Movado as a brand. Their quality is superb.

The watch is absolutely beautiful! Looks even better in person. I bought it for my husband, who never wears jewlery, and he won't go anywhere without it. The tag had list price of $198.00, so you know you're getting a great deal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! Awesome watch for an unbelievable price..., July 13, 2005
Beautiful watch for an excellent price. My huband absolutely loved this watch and it was even nicer than I expected. A classy looking watch with a great name to back it up. Can be worn with any type of dress from jeans to a tux. I would recommend this watch to anyone who wants an expensive looking watch for a reasonable price. I am a very satisfied customer and will be buying my next watch from this site in the near future.
