5.0 out of 5 stars Love My Ctizen Calibre 2100
I picked up my Citizen Calibre 2100 about two months ago and I absolutely love it. I opted for the one with the black face since I found it a bit easier to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love My Ctizen Calibre 2100, September 5, 2005
I picked up my Citizen Calibre 2100 about two months ago and I absolutely love it. I opted for the one with the black face since I found it a bit easier to read.

The watch itself is quite substantial. It has a real solid feel and appears to be very well built. I have taken the watch into pools and the ocean on several occasions (though never to any significant depth) and have yet to see any kind of water intrusion. Just make sure the bezel is fully locked down!

The watch itself looks magnificent. My father has a Breitling Navitimer and I think this watch looks every bit as good as his. Yes, I know it's not a Breitling and it's like comparing a Volkswagen to a Bentley, but I've always liked the look of the Breitling and I think Citizen does a good job capturing that look with the Calibre 2100.

The "Eco-Drive" on this watch's designation means that it is solar powered. I find this to be a very nifty feature. I have yet to see the power meter dip below full charge, though it is summer and I am wearing short sleeves a lot.

I highly recommend this watch.

5.0 out of 5 stars A quality product and very versatile, April 19, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This watch is perfect for just about any use. Rugged, classy, practical, very, very stylish for everyday use but yet still perfect for dress occasions. I've owned Citizen Eco Drive watches before and they are truly quality products: durable, reliable, and reasonably priced.

This watch defintely has the "WOW" factor and I would not hesitate to HIGHLY recommend it to anyone. A Lexus quality product for a Toyota price.

5.0 out of 5 stars A real Man's Watch!, July 31, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I got this watch for my husband for our 9th anniversary. I think he has told me "I love my watch!" at least 2-3 times a week since he got it not quite a month ago. It has a good weight, keeps excellent time and has several other useful functions. It has glow in the dark hands that one can actually read in the dark! I highly recommend this watch. My husband had been looking at this watch for some time and did a lot of research before choosing this particular timepiece.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice enough watch, but scratches easily!, October 15, 2008

This review is from: Citizen Men's AV0031-59E Eco-Drive Calibre 2100 Watch (Watch)
I bought this watch on the strength of the positive reviews at Amazon, but I am really somewhat disappointed.

The positives are well explored here by other reviewers. It is an attractive watch that actually looks a bit more expensive than it is. The eco-drive feature is a must for me as I enjoy a watch I can swim, snorkel and scuba-dive with, but I have lost more than one waterproof watch by changing the battery and having the seal broken. I was always assured by the watch shops changing the batteries that the watches would still be waterproof, but two nice watches have bitten the dust this way for me. From here on in, swimming watches will only be automatic or solar -- no more batteries! That's one reason I was so excited about this watch from Citizen.

My biggest disappointment is that the crystal scratches way too easily. I have very unattractive scratches on the watch now, and I can't find any jewelers willing to polish or buff them out. I don't abuse my watches, but I am a person who is clumsy and careless enough in his everyday locomotion to need a scratch-resistant crystal. They say this watch has one, but it is not nearly scratch-resistant enough compared to other watches I have owned. I would rather have paid $50-75 more and gotten a really good scratch-resistant crystal.

The second problem is with the stopwatch. After I had the watch about six months, the stopwatch stopped working. I would press the buttons and nothing would happen, and this went on for about a week. Just as I was figuring out how to send it in for warranty service, it started working again, and I figured sending it in working condition wouldn't do me any good. I am waiting to see if it goes on the fritz again.

Overall, I have been disappointed in the watch, perhaps because I had high expectations. If it didn't scratch so easily, I would really like it a lot. I can live with the stopwatch problem as I rarely use it, but the scratches really mar the appearance.

This watch is gorgeous, sophisticated, and the craftsmanship is 2nd to none. If you want a watch that is on par with a Omega or Breitling but don't want their price tag, this is the watch for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid, attractive, and well-made, March 4, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Citizen Men's AV0031-59E Eco-Drive Calibre 2100 Watch (Watch)
I bought this watch about 2 or 3 years ago, being ready for my first "nice" watch, a step up from the Casio and Timex stuff.

My reqirements were 200m water resistance, a chronograph, date funtion, all-analog features, white hands on a black face, and a stainless or titanium case, and that led me to this machine, which has an outstanding alarm feature and lumeniscent hands and dial to boot.

The glow-in-the-dark hands are REALLY bright, and hours after the lights go out you can still read them.

It's a bit heavy and bulky, but that was part of its appeal to me. I cannot recommend this watch if you demand light weight and thin, though. The chronograph and the watch itself hold accuracy well, it's simple to use, and it looks good for dress or casual. I get asked about it often, and it's functional.

I am impressed with it's accuracy. Against an atomic clock it gains only one second in two weeks. Thats about 26 seconds a year, which is good for a wristwatch, especially a sub-500 dollar watch.

I am both a pilot and a diver, and this could serve either role, although I would not risk it in deep water simply because I like it too much; despite the depth rating, it's better to use a dedicated dive watch.

Overall, I am very satisfied with this watch, and with Citizen Eco-drive watches in general. This is a real "guy's" watch, with it's look and feel. I feel I got my money's worth, and if the watch is as rugged and well-made as it has shown so far, I will probably still be using it for many years to come.

I've had this watch for several weeks and have formed a favorable opinion. It's very well constructed and thus far very accurate. It took nearly two weeks to fully charge but that was normal and documented. It ran fine while partially charged. While it looks complicated to use I've found it easy to understand the various functions which are clearly explained in the user guide. I haven't used it under any rugged conditions nor submersed it in anything other than a swimming pool. Thus I can't attest to its endurance except to say that under normal usage it should be very reliable and solid. As far as appearance, I've received quite a few compliments along the lines of "Hey, cool watch." and "Did you get a new watch? Nice!" All-in-all I'm very happy with this purchase. Oh... one more thing. It is VERY heavy. I don't mind the weight but you'll want to make sure that it's properly fitted to your wrist. Most jewelry stores will do this for a nominal fee (some may even do it free of charge).

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb watch for the price., April 13, 2008

At first I must say it's a bit risky to buy a watch on the internet before you have seen it. But in this case i got really lucky. The watch was a little bigger than I expected, but as soon as i got used to the size (took about one hour) i think it's great. I was thinking about getting the titanium version because of the low weight, but i liked the color and the layout a lot better on this one. I don't think the weight is a problem at all. So far I've had the watch for about one month, and i like it better each day. The only minor vulnerability of the watch is that the glass is the uppermost part of it. I have gotten one little scratch so far, but i don't think it will be a big problem.

The watch looks great, and I expect it to last several years. My last watch was a Citizen eco-drive too, and it ran problem-free for 12 years! Well done, Citizen!

I'm a watch lover and have several high end watches (it's my thing, what can I say). With that said, whenever I get the chance I've got the Calibre on. I love the look (the chronograph is awsome), the weight, and the general overall feel of the watch on my wrist... It's a joy! Oh yea, it keeps incredible time and is as good as anything on the market in this price range. I bought one for my son as well!!!
