Product Description

The Citizen Men's Eco Drive Stainless Steel Watch is a no-fuss watch that is elegant enough to wear in the boardroom. The stainless steel case, screw-down case back and bracelet with a hidden push-button, fold-over clasp looks elegant and refined, complementing the bold, black dial. The dial displays polished gun-metal hands and hour index bars along with a discreet calendar. The Citizen Men's Eco Drive Stainless Steel Watch is powered by Japanese quartz movement and fueled by natural and artificial light and functions without a battery. Plus, it's water resistant to 330 feet (100 meters).

Since its foundation in 1930, CITIZEN has promoted a multi-cultural mindset that fosters excellence and creativity. The very name of the brand conveys a deep respect toward craftsmanship and considered as familiar by citizens the world-over. So as a “citizen” of the world, we bear the responsibility to help cultivate a culture of positive change and on-going evolution through our craft. We take that mission seriously and steadfastly welcome what the future may bring.

As a true manufacture d’horlogerie, CITIZEN integrates a comprehensive manufacturing process from creating individual components to a watch’s final assembly. It’s an artisan’s approach to watch making based on pushing forward the boundaries of technology and leveraging our experience toward exploring new possibilities.

One pivotal technological breakthrough was the development of a light-driven watch. CITIZEN pioneered this engineering innovation well ahead of other watch manufacturers as early as 1976, which led to the launch of the highly acclaimed Eco-Drive in 1995. Utilizing electrical power converted from virtually any light source, this extraordinary innovation changed forever the way watches could be powered. Eco-Drive eliminated the need to ever replace batteries, which made it especially beneficial to areas where such specialist batteries were not obtainable. This leveled the field for citizens of virtually every country to be able to experience unrestricted joy of wearing and using a CITIZEN watch.

The product development policy, “The Fusion of Technology and Beauty,” remains a constant motivation for us to merge cutting-edge technology with perfection of design beauty, which as a consequence inspires people to strive to be their best at any time.

CITIZEN launches a new campaign in collaboration with Wieden+Kennedy, Better Starts Now. This is the simple belief that no matter who you are or what you do, it is always possible to make something better — and now is the time to start doing it. We believe that better and now are both infinite, and that there is always a next ‘better’ and a new ‘now’ in which you can start pursuing it. It was clear from the onset of this project that we are dedicated to this ideal…not to the past but to the present, and all the way we can improve it. To help communicate this belief to the world we have created a new global CITIZEN brand movie, brand identity and brand website that represents out Better Starts Now philosophy.

It has a good solid weight to it and has a good quality conservative look.

The only criticism I would have is that the face is not as blue as it looks in the picture but it has a nice pattern to it.

I especially like that I do not have to worry about buying batteries for the life of the watch.

I purchased the Citizen BM6730-56L after three months of research. Believe it or not, this was a last minute find that beat out several very nice Seikos. My criteria were simple; nice quality watch, silver bracelet band, simple dial (no chronograph), and no more replacing batteries.

From the Seiko Kinetic family, I considered the Seiko Men's SKA347 Kinetic Silver-Tone Watch. The price was right with kinetic movement and reviews were good. However, the band and the overall look didn't win me over. It's a great watch for those looking for something that resembles an Omega. That's a compliment.

I also considered the Seiko Premier line for their sapphire dial window and overall expensive look. I made an exception in considering the Seiko Men's SNQ117 Premier Stainless-Steel Black Roman Numeral Dial Watch. The price is very reasonable for a Premier, however, the brown dial ring and battery operation prevented me from closing the deal. But I still think it is one of the most beautiful watch in the Premier line.

Others considered were all Premier Kinetics. Seiko Premier Men's Stainless Steel Case Stainless Steel Bracelet Kinetic Watch SRN001, Seiko Premier Kinetic Perpetual Calendar SNP001, and Seiko Men's Watches Premier SNP003. All very nice but I did not want to pay over $300 for a watch. The single Premier Automatic that I wanted to purchase over $300 is the Seiko Men's Premier SSA023 but it is not yet available on Amazon.

At the end I purchased the Citizen BM6730-56L (the only Citizen considered) for its Eco-Drive and bracelet style. The DARK BLUE patterned dial is very classy and modern. I had many watches with black dials and this one stands out. I only wish it had a sapphire dial window but that usually calls for a price premium.

I've had the watch for almost 8 months now and am very satisfied with it. I wear it primarily for work in a business casual setting but would also wear this watch in a formal business setting as well. Its a good match for a business suit or button down dress shirt. It has a good solid weight to it and has a good quality conservative look. The size is just right. Its not so big that it looks like your wearing a dinner plate on your wrist and its not so small where it looks weak. My only complaint is that the wristband latch surface gets scuffed up pretty quickly but I'm ok with that as thats not the part of the watch that you look at all the time. This watch is not one of the top end expensive fancy watches but its also not one of the bargain bin ones either. Its a good middle ground for someone that's not ready to spend $1000 on a watch but also wants a nice quality, good professional looking moderately priced watch.

I bought this watch a little over a month ago although not from Amazon. You won't be disappointed if you buy this watch, the quality is superb albeit it doesn't have a sapphire crystal. It makes no noise and keeps superb time, the bracelet feels like quality steel, not flimsy or anything. I know some of you will laugh at me but I feel it has the quality of a much much more expensive watch.

This is an exceptional watch for the price. Granted there are more expensive watches out there but this watch looks nice, has a nice weight to it and is not overloaded with gadgets. I also like the eco-drive function as it works extremely well. Not to mention that getting a citizen watch battery changed can be a pain, with eco-drive you don't have to worry about that anymore. I also noted that the clasp works nicely and doesn't flop open like some watches. The only criticism I would have is that the face is not as blue as it looks in the picture but it has a nice pattern to it. In any case, this is a worthy purchase if you want a nice watch and don't want to break the bank.

I probably looked at a couple hundred watches online and this watch had the “look” I was after. However, I dragged my feet on this purchase for about 4 months. From another review I knew that the picture on the website was not representative of the actual watch. Specifically, the watch in the picture appears to have a solid black face, but it’s really dark blue with a cross-hatch pattern. I’m very picky so I wanted to see the watch in-person before ordering. Unfortunately I could not find this model locally at any of the department stores or jewelry chains (it may have been discontinued). So I decided to take a chance and place the order anyway and as it turns out I’m very glad I did.

I’m very happy with this watch. It’s a very solid piece, possibly a bit heavy for some, but I prefer a watch with some weight to it. Even the bracelet seems like a very high quality piece and I really like the push button clasp. The bracelet and case are more highly polished than they appear in the picture, but this will be my “dress” watch so I’m ok with a little more “bling” than my other watches.

I was able to resize the bracelet myself using an inexpensive watch pin remover tool, also purchased from Amazon. The pins on this watch were fairly easy to remove. At first I thought my watch was missing one of the removable links, but if you look closely at the picture, there are three of the large removable links on one side of the clasp, two on the other.

The watch arrived a day before the estimated delivery date and was packaged in the original, round Eco Drive box as depicted on the website. Overall I’m very satisfied with my purchase. The watch is exactly what I wanted.
