Nice watch, but it DOES have a battery to replace.
on August 28, 2012
After about 5 years, this watch stopped running--even after extended time in bright light. I returned it to Citizen and was told it needed the rechargeable battery replaced.
Now I know it's not the same as the regular battery replacement needed in most quartz watches, but it's somewhat misleading for Citizen to say "it never needs a battery"; that's simply not true. I have a radio-controlled Casio quartz watch that's going on six years on the original battery, so five years here is not remarkable. Plus, the new battery in this one requires something more than a trip to the local jeweler. It was a $40 charge +shipping to and from Citizen. My wife gave this to me so I likely would not have bothered otherwise.
It's a nice watch, but don't think it'll never need a battery. No more Eco-Drive for me. If I have to replace a battery anyway, I'll go for one that's not half the price of the watch.
