3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but could be better
I saw these guys in Philly when the opened for Cato Salsa Experience who opened for The Soundtrack of Our Lives. Pretty good billing huh? Citizen Bird really impressed me as a live band with their neurotic lead singer and huge psychodellic sounds. I never wanted to buy a cd after seeing a show more than after this. Citizen Bird really impressed me as a live band with their neurotic lead singer and huge psychodellic sounds. I never wanted to buy a cd after seeing a show more than after this. When I got home I was a bit dissapointed. The sounds is a bit muffled and it seems to lack some of the crazy energy that I know the band can put out. However, I would definitly see the band again and would buy their next album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Citizen Bird - self-titled (Stinky), March 1, 2008

Looks to be the first and only (so far) CD by this talented Swedish psychedelic pop five piece. This title really caught me off guard. Why aren't these guys better known? After discovering this posting on Amazon, I couldn't resist ordering a copy of this CD, a true keeper - if you have the closet space. Tracks that had me playing this CD over several times after I first got it were "Glory" - what it had developed into anyway, the awesomely upbeat "Magnetic City" (possibly the best cut on the entire disc), the tripping "This Is The Place", the band's namesake "Citizen Bird" and "Knucklebuster". Personnel: Simon Ohlsson-guitar, keyboards & vocals, Jukka Rintamaki-bass, keyboards & vocals, Andreas Nilsson-guitar, Jon Olmeskog-keyboards and Anders Gustafsson-drums. Should appeal to fans of Spiritualized, King Black Acid, My Bloody Valentine, Spacemen 3 and Low Flying Owls.

3.0 out of 5 stars A hidden but sparkling Swedish gem. Uncover it., August 12, 2004
This review is from: Citizen Bird (Audio CD)
Eversince Soundtrack Of Our Lives released 'Behind The Music', I've been searching for another Swedish export with the same type of power, diversity, and production slickness...I may have found it with Citizen Bird's self-titled album. Earlier in the decade, this brief spurt of Swedish bands ranged from spacey ambience and garage-rock to bland indie sounds, but nothing that matched the retro-psychadelia meets 70's rock groove of 'Behind The Music'. Yet if you backtrack a few years earlier, you will find it with Citizen Bird's (formerly Silverbullit) sophomore effort. Just think a combination of the Soundtrack Of Our Lives' Stones meets Zeppelin guitar-swagger, Spacemen 3 or early Spiritualized, along with flashes of The MC5. Who knows, Citizen Bird could even be considered the Scandanavian cousin of the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club or The Warlocks. Regardless a really nice find, and I tip my hat towards Epitonic for leading me in the right direction.
