Solid EP.,

I first heard these guys on Pandora and dug the sound. I've read comparisons to Radiohead, but I feel they are more electronic and less experimental than Radiohead. All and all, as EP's go I think anyone who picks this up will be pleased. Solid music and vocals with definitely their own unique sound.

For any Radiohead fan out there, buy this cd immediately. I've wondered for a long time why there weren't any other bands out there going for that experimental, trippy, take-you-to-another-world sound. Home Video is that band. Their sound very much resembles the style of Radiohead's "Kid A"; track one sounds a lot like "Idioteque". This is one of the best cds I've bought in a long time. Pick it up and you won't be let down.

Wow, these guys are incredible. First came the 'That You Might' 10" release this Summer, now comes a full-fledged EP available on CD from what may be one of the most exciting new electronic acts of the 21st Century. Five tracks of original, relentless, and brooding sonic perfection make this release a must have for the IDM crowd. Can't wait for their debut album in 2005!

One of my favorite CD's for the electronic age. They sound like a sedate Radiohead, with slightly abstract meaningful lyrics. I personally think Radiohead is ok, but love electronica music and would recomend this. If you like The Postal Service or Death Cab for Cutie you should get this and also get their other album "No Certain Night or Morning".

I also found these guys on Pandora (THANKS PANDORA!) and "In a Submarine" was an instant favorite. Those who enjoy Radiohead will surely enjoy Home Video and thank goodness for these guys! All 4 of these tracks are great but Submarine makes the purchase completely worthy on it's own. Awesome stuff!

Home Video - Citizen,
This review is from: Citizen (Audio CD)
Half electronics and half-rock, Home Video's CITIZEN EP might seem like an odd hybrid, but it certainly makes sense, given Warp Records' widening musical view. The tracks trade off: "Citizen" is more rock than electronics, while "We" is the direct opposite. The vocals have that crooning emo quality, even if they don't entirely rise above a lack of affectation. "In a Submarine" has a certain DFA quality to it; it's almost dancey! And "The Tundra" has a Peter Hook-like bass to punctuate the dark beats -- the track almost sounds like a darker version of New Order. A promising introduction.

This is a good cd. I personally think that it's better than Home Video's actual full length cd. . . but in particular, "in a submarine" is almost worth buying the whole album for. not to say that the other songs aren't good too though . . .
