Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Give a special gift to that special man with an eye on the sky with the blue-tone Citizen Skyhawk stainless steel analog/digital watch that honors the Blue Angels, the legendary US Navy precision flying team, with an official Blue Angels insignia on the caseback. It's powered by Citizen's unique Eco-Drive, which absorbs sunlight and any artificial light through the crystal and dial to recharge the watch continuously. The fast-forward timekeeping features include time and calendar in twenty-two time zones, thirty cities, three world time alarms, a 99-minute countdown timer, one-touch interchangeable analog/digital time, and 1/100-second chronograph that measures up to 24 hours.

The large round black bezel offers a bi-directional rotating slide rule with yellow triangle accents. The large, round silver watch case measures 45mm (1.77 inches) wide and 15mm (0.59 inches) deep. It's completed by a comfortable blue leather strap. The deep blue dial background features large white hands with luminous tips as well as luminous square dial markers. It also features water resistance to 100 meters (330 feet) and a scratch-resistant, non-reflective mineral crystal.

Eco-Drive Frequently Asked Questions
How can you tell if the Eco-Drive watch is getting enough light? In normal use, the watch displays the time and the sweep-second hand moves in one second intervals. A very important feature of Eco-Drive is the Low Charge Warning Mode which as a result of low battery voltage, causes the second hand to jump two seconds at a time (while still keeping correct time).

How long will an Eco-Drive watch run after it is fully charged?
If your watch is put away where no light is available to it while in a fully charged state, depending on the model, it will run for from 45 days to 5 years.

How can the Eco-Drive watch be recharged?
Besides sunlight, it can be safely charged by exposing it to a fluorescent desk lamp, with the dial (face) up and within about 8 inches or an incandescent lamp (regular light bulb) no closer than 20 inches. Never use a halogen lamp since the heat generated by it can cause damage to your watch. The most efficient and the quickest is in direct bright sunlight (not windowsill) and never on the dashboard of a car.

Warranty
It's backed by Citizen's 5-year warranty (from original date of purchase).

About Citizen
One of the world's largest watch makers, the Citizen Watch Company was founded in 1924 in Japan from its beginnings as the Shokosha Watch Research Institute. The first watch released by the company was named "CITIZEN" and its name was selected so that it would be "close to the hearts of people everywhere." Today, Citizen is recognized as a worldwide leader in advanced timepiece technology, from the world's slimmest LCD watch to the first voice recognition watch to the world's first professional dive watch with an electronic depth sensor. Citizen was also the first to sell watches made with titanium in the world, which is not only light and durable but also non-allergenic (as stainless steel can be to some wearers). Most recently, Citizen has released watches powered by its Eco-Drive, which runs continuously in any kind of natural light or artificial light for a lifetime of use without changing a battery.

The Citizen Story

The company was established in 1924. The founding fathers selected the name Citizen so it would be ""Close to the Hearts of People Everywhere"" and soon after adopted the company’s formal name, Citizen Watch Company.

During the last seventy-five years Citizen has expanded its business throughout the world and has achieved recognition as the global brand. The past twenty-five year period has coincided with the company’s dramatic rise to its current position as the world’s largest watchmaker, a distinction Citizen has held every year since 1986.

Beyond sheer size, Citizen is also recognized as a worldwide leader in advanced technology. From the world’s slimmest LCD watch to the first voice recognition watch and the world’s first professional dive watch with an electronic depth sensor, Citizen’s record of ""world’s firsts"" is unmatched.

More recently, Citizen has staked out a new position as the leader in timekeeping with its Eco-Drives watches that are light powered. With models ranging from dress models to sports models to professional dive watches, Citizen Eco-Drive runs continuously in any kind of natural or artificial light for a lifetime of use. Fueled by light, it never needs a battery.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Watch I've Ever Owned, May 11, 2005
By
C. T. Houchin (Wichita, Kansas 67218) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I Had been looking for an affordable watch for some time; something between a throwaway and a Rolex. This watch does it all, looks great, and is priced at about one half its worth!

More accurate than its stated + or - 5 seconds a month, sturdy and stylish, and it probably won't need servicing for twenty years, if then.

Note: This is a large heavy watch. If weight is an issue go titanium. I'm a big guy (6'7", 240lbs.) and a big watch face looks better on my wrist.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product, January 9, 2007
I had a Skyhawk stolen from my house and searched everywhere for a replacement. The best price I could find was on Amazon. It was over $100 cheaper than anywhere else.

I decided to purchase the leather band because I didn't want something too dressy, but also something that I could wear with pretty much anything. The watch does pretty much everything. It has glow in the dark hands, but does not have any type of lighting. I had my first Skyhawk for over 5 years and never had a problem.

The only problem with the Skyhawk is that it is a little hard to set. Do not lose your book, because you will need it when you need to reset the clock for time changes. The Eco-drive is also a great function. You never have to replace the battery.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent watch, but hands got misaligned., December 29, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Citizen Men's JR3080-01L Blue Angels Skyhawk Watch (Watch)
This is indeed an excellent watch, that also looks very well. I'm thin and I don't mind its weight at all. My only complain is about the hands of the watch: the main minute hand got misaligned who knows why, and now I'll need to stop on a citizen authorized repair service to have it fixed. Nothing serious, but still very annoying.

I won't try to review this watch here because it's very straightforward. It has only two buttons and a crown, but the company made a good job making all the functions easily accessible. Other than that, look at the descriptions, they will tell everything you must know. Really.

Two YEAR update:

* Minute hand issue:

The purpose of my "review" was to tell you that, if the minute hand is out of sync/misaligned, you can't align it manually (e.g., like you do when you correct the time). You need to send it to a Citizen repair center to get it aligned, and that means $$. Just a thought!

* "Scratch-Resistant" crystal:

Not really. After two years it is quite scratched, and I am very careful with this watch. Things like leaving in the car with the watch facing down can scratch the crystal. I don't much about "scratch-resistant" crystals, but that doesn't seem like one. I may be wrong about the concept, but that's the experience I had.

* Alarm:

Three, completely independent. It's not loud and it won't beep for a long time. Some seconds and it's over. I wouldn't trust the watch for a serious appointment.

* Custom time zones:

Only full hour zones. You can't set it to, say, India, but since I don't live or go there, it's not a problem. You can also set your own letter abbr.

* Battery

Seems nice to have a solar powered battery. It lasts and lasts and it looks like I won't need to ever replace it... How cool is that?
