Product Description

The company was established in 1918. The founding fathers selected the name Citizen so it would be "Close to the Hearts of People Everywhere" and soon after adopted the company’s formal name, Citizen Watch Company.

During the last seventy-five years Citizen has expanded its business throughout the world and has achieved recognition as the global brand. The past twenty-five year period has coincided with the company’s dramatic rise to its current position as the world’s largest watchmaker, a distinction Citizen has held every year since 1986.

Beyond sheer size, Citizen is also recognized as a worldwide leader in advanced technology. From the world’s slimmest LCD watch to the first voice recognition watch and the world’s first professional dive watch with an electronic depth sensor, Citizen’s record of "world’s firsts" is unmatched.

More recently, Citizen has staked out a new position as the leader in timekeeping with its Eco-Drives watches that are light powered. With models ranging from dress models to sports models to professional dive watches, Citizen Eco-Drive runs continuously in any kind of natural or artificial light for a lifetime of use. Fueled by light, it never needs a battery.

This watch looks more expensive than it really is and people complement it a lot whenever i'm wearing it.

Just wanted to let potential customers know that this is the exact same watch as the Citizen BJ2115-07E. The only difference is that this model's (BJ2117-01E) dive functions are in metric as where the BJ2115-07E is feet. Haven't quite figured out why this model is $104.25 LESS than the other at the time of this review, since the only difference is in dive measurements. But yeah, if your not going to use the dive functions and/or want metric measurements only, then this version is definitely the one for you since it's $100 cheaper. The only thing that bugs me a little bit is that the European and Asian versions of both of these watches come with a sapphire crystal and we here in North America get stuck with a cheaper mineral one. Granted you can send it in to Citizen (google it or call them, it's somewhere in California.) and have them replace it with Sapphire for $90 or so, but a $400 plus dive watch should definitely come with sapphire, especially when we know other parts of the world gets it for the same relative price. Maybe we don't demand it or whatever. Other than those opinions, it's a fantastic watch. Face looks gorgeous when the light hits it. The only reason for 3 stars instead of 5 is they want to cheapen our version with mineral glass and the $100 price difference in the two versions. Good Luck.

I am picky on my watches. Picky on look, size, functionality and price. This watch is simply beautiful. Looks even better in person vs. pictures online. The size of this watch is great without being TOO big. It has heft to it, but is no heavier than my Seiko Diver Automatic. This model shows depth in meters vs. ft. There is another model of this watch that looks identical other than that. Like others have said the bezel is a nice shiny black and looks real sharp. The diver functions I think are great and the manual is easy to read and understand how to use the watch. I like the fact that the watch automatically goes into "dive mode" by the water sensor on the side of the watch. The band is very soft and very comfortable. I have other watches with similar bands and this one is by far the most comfortable. Some reviews complain the band seems "Cheap". I disagree. Sure it isn't as rugged as some, but that is why it is more comfortable and it isn't flimsy like it will tear or anything. This watch will definately catch eyes of other people without being too flashy. Casual, but still dressy enough to wear with most items. Overall I am very happy with the watch and the overall quality of it. Definitely my new favorite!

I buy a lot of watches and I LOVE THIS WATCH. Get more compliments when I wear this watch over my Tags and Omegas, and this watch is at a fraction of the price. Looks great, feels great, and I have had no issues. Functionality is cool with the depth readings, and while it may seem to be a big watch, I have little wrists and it still looks great (not bulky) and the rubber band keeps it light vs having a big face with a heavy metal band. I have had zero issues with the band and wouldn't worry about lossing the watch.

The blue highlights make this a very eye catching watch. Can be worn daily with any atire...dressy, casual, sporting, etc...

If you're looking for a great watch but don't want to spend thousands, I highly recommend this watch!

Summary: If you're buying this for diving, be aware that the crystal scratches easily. The depth gauge is amazing, but I will buy a higher end watch with sapphire crystal for my next dive watch.

I love everything about this watch, except the one big flaw: the Mineral Crystal.

I've only owned the watch for about 8 months and worn it on about 10 dives. I now have several scratches in the middle of the crystal which obstructs some of the view. It also detracts from the beauty of an otherwise stunning watch.

I had reservations about the mineral crystal, but assumed that it must be fairly durable if Citizen put it in a dive watch. My assumption was incorrect and the watch scratched very easily. I'm generally very careful with my gear, but in a diving environment, on the boat, in the water, a watch will come into contact with other objects.

If you are buying this for a casual every-day watch and like the style, this is a great looking watch. I get lots of comments and questions about it. It is also a legit diving watch with an accurate depth gauge that I've tested down to 90 feet. I haven't found the strap to be lacking in quality like other reviewers, but I will be mindful of any signs of wear.

I just received this watch today and can honestly say that I love the watch except for the strap and clasp. I own numerous watches, including other Citizens, with rubber straps and this by far is the cheapest strap. The watch case has a nice weight to it yet the strap is this thin rubber. The weight of the watch bends the straps when putting it on and even when it is on my wrist. Even the buckle is cheaper than other watches. I am primarily comparing this watch to the Aqualand 2oth Anniversary diving watch which has a nice thick and sturdy band with a solid clasp. I honestly love the watch however I cannot seem to get past how flimsy and cheap the strap is. Not sure if it's a keeper
