5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product at a Great Price!
As the owner of a number of personal CD players some of which cost several times as much I must say this unit is one of the best. 1.0 out of 5 stars Bad product - Do not buy it
I never recommended anybody before not to buy a product. I recieved this item today and When I tried to open and use this product, the top opening cover is not opening completely and CD is not turning on (Though Radio is working OK). At first I suspected damage due to packaging/shipping. I closely examined and found that the top opening plastic cover is made delicately...

As the owner of a number of personal CD players some of which cost several times as much I must say this unit is one of the best. The sound quality is very good and the controls are very convenient and logically laid out. I was very glad to see that they include the AC adapter as I play this primarily at the office where it's on all day. All the connection points are solid and confidence inspiring. The fact that you can even use and recharge the batteries right in the unit using the supplied AC adapter is an added plus (you must supply your own rechargable batteries, of course). As with all CD players with built-in radios you will need a good reception area to benefit from this feature. That means that if, as I do, you work or live in a modern steel framed building you will not get much use out of the radio - but that's true of just about any radio in the bowels of a contemporary office building without some form of external or amplified antenna. Buy this for its good, solid construction, great sound, nice mix of features and the multiple power options (regular AA alkaline batteries, rechargeable-in-the-unit AA batteries or AC out of the wall socket). It would be very hard to find a better unit under any brand name or at more than twice the price. Grab this while you can!

I'm not an audiophile so i won't bore you with long opinions of each feature of this cd player. What i will tell you is that NO LOCAL RETAILER could come any where close to features and price of this machine and it works VERY WELL, it's controls are logically laid out,it sounds wonderfull, and with the ASP switched on i can't even MAKE it skip. The one year warranty and the CITIZEN brand name is icing on the cake.As i said - WHAT A BARGAIN!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Player if You're Careful, July 17, 2005

This CD Player is awesome, but I have a few tips if you're going to buy it (please pay attention, these are important):

1. Be EXTREMELY careful with the battery compartment lid. It's very fragile when open, but fine when closed.

2. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT DROP THIS! The CD Player is shock resistent, but a big enough jar could ruin it.

Enjoy your player!

5.0 out of 5 stars happy birthday boy, August 22, 2006
This review is from: Citizen CD-230 Portable CD Player with AM/FM Tuner and 60-Second Anti-Shock Protection (Electronics)
I sent this to my grandson in Iowa who is not as active as other kids because he is a cancer fighter who is now in remission. This is all he really wanted for his birthday present.
My daughter said that when he received it he was sooo pleased and that she wanted one too for her birthday. She says it's very well made and the sound is terrific. She, my grandson and I give it a "thumbs up" and I will use Amazon again for my other grandchildren's birthday gifts. Thank you.. gladys costa

abstract comments: Great Product! Does it all and is like TIMEX takes a beating and keeps on going!

Details: Daughter calls 3 days before grandson's birthday.."Dad he really would be surprised if he got a cd player he walks around with his Dad's and really thinks he is cool."
Now any grandparent knows that this is an immediate call to action. Ok we start shopping...Best Buy- Circuit City - Toys R Us - Target and really don't see anything that looks like an 8 year grandson would like...Then comes the moment the brain kicks into high gear....AMAZON! Trust me after the previous wasted time, 1 check and "BINGO" this unit comes up. Most features the others had - plus. Now check availabilty and price and Beach Audio has it in stock the best price and shipped it the next day.
Why the heck I spent all the time with the other stores is one of those things that "old dudes" do when the brain is in 50% mode.
GREAT PRODUCT - SUPER ALL AROUND EXPERIENCE!!

I bought this for my son. He said it works great, & he likes the headphones that came with it. He said the others wouldn't stay in his ears correctly. Also said the volume is great too.

I never recommended anybody before not to buy a product. I recieved this item today and When I tried to open and use this product, the top opening cover is not opening completely and CD is not turning on (Though Radio is working OK). At first I suspected damage due to packaging/shipping. I closely examined and found that the top opening plastic cover is made delicately and not correctly sitting on the base. A small test of pusing the cover when closed reveals the movement by sideways. Even though the price is low, it is a waste of time to gamble than buying a market tested durable product that works. I am disappointed.... Especially If you buy it online return process is time consuming, discouraging and a real pain.... And I need to reconsider my online buying practice too...

Mine arrived with the volume control broken. It played at one volume and wouldn't change regardless of where I set the volume control. I'm returning mine....

5.0 out of 5 stars Great device so far, September 18, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Citizen CD-230 Portable CD Player with AM/FM Tuner and 60-Second Anti-Shock Protection (Electronics)
I just got this and I really like it so far. The programming controls are so intuitive that I didn't need to refer to the manual. Presets are individual buttons, which I really like. All controls are easy, obvious. Simple, basic, solid CD/radio at a great price -- exactly what I was looking for. I can't speak to durability, since I just got it. So far, I love it. I am replacing a Sony unit that was much more expensive and much harder to use and only lasted a year. (I used it indoors, on a desk only.) So far, I like this one much better (and I am a frequent Sony buyer).
