I am an attorney and a grandfather of 7 boys. After the bible, the most important documents for an American are the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Federalist Papers. All citizens owe it to themselves and their country to read and understand these three documents and their legacy of liberty and rights. This book contains copies of the first two mentioned documents and with with 72 pages of explanation serves as a great introduction. It is part of the great First Principles Series by The Heritage Foundation. I give copies of that series to each of my grandsons when they are old enough. I include this book,"Constitutionalism and the Rule of Law", "How To Read the Federalist Papers" and "Why States? The Challenge of Federalism". Also I include Glen Beck's "The Original Argument" which contains most of the Federalist Papers written in modern day English which makes it easier for the boys to digest. I highly recommend that every family with teenagers have a set of those books as part of the family library. J. Russell Ormesher

Great basic history. Well worth your time and effort to more clearly understand why and how the founding fathers of our great country meant for us to survive as a nation when they wrote the Declaration and the Constitution. Helps one understand why The Constitution is NOT a living document but a sound treatise on how a civil society can survive as a republic. Great history lessons for our great country's citizens!
